I really have to wonder, most of sov is now under the control of CFC or the Russians, are we going to see a Third Great War this year?

If it pops I hope the Ruskies don't lose. I have my nice bubble I rent off them for cheap and make a very nice profit mining ABC/Ice and shipping to distributors in Jita IV.
My introduction to that map was late Nov. Joined Tribe as AAA was being eaten up.
If CFC and HBC go after Russians the Russians stand no chance at all. They'd fall within a month.
2013 is starting off strong with the lulKMs

gonna start today! any tips etc on were i should pick up?
My best advice is mess around, learn as much as possible, and feel out what you want to do in the game. Its like a college degree, youll probably change your mind like 4 times. I went from "zomg indy" to "zomg madbomber" while visiting a bunch of things in between.
is there a way without launching the game for me to see all my items etc / money i thought i had something like 63mil or some shit from running plex's.
the old corp i was in insisted on use learning shit in some magical order *that kinda took the fun outta wanting to fly BIG HUGE FUCK YOU IM FROM STAR WARS* ships, i think i had 4 rifters 2 of the special rifters 2? or 4 of the star wars ship with lots of long range dakka on it?
ive also played for like 14 days on the LAZORs ships , i was looking into cross training into something else caldari? i think it was just because i loved the missles / animations.
I use Evemon on my phone to access my stuff, on my phone. Just need to be able to log into the account, to create an API key for it.
The best things to learn are the fundamental things that benefit all ships. E.G. Electronics, Engineering, Navigation, Drones, Targeting, etc. Get them to IV, and V
I went straight to the big indy ships, and focused on a Drake (missile boat) among some other caldari ships. It wasn't until I started to get more pvp exerience that I settled into my manticore and over the past few months I've been cleaning up my fundamental skills.
Cleaning them up just make you well rounded. You can fit things easier, and more comfortably. Your performance in flight benefits greatly. And yes, when you cross train into other race ships, a lot of that stuff will cross over and benefit you.
i just checked i have 243,211,152.45 ISK... thats a decent start right?
Some more info umm
level 5 skills are:
Minmatar Frigate
Navigation
Mechanics
Hull Upgrades
Weapon Upgrades * currently training to 5*
Small Projectile Turret
Shield Management
Engineering
ive lost about 70 mil trying to copy build on evemon for ships i apparently shouldnt be flying because even with the ability to "fit" tech 2 i cant fullly fit a tech 2 , i entered a worm hole * ITS A TRAP* and lost a 20mil jag... i cant seem to find the complex's i used to run all day long to make money so minus selling the stockpiled items i have all over im really fucking lost atm.
Ratting does a decent job of paying the bills. From what I remember doing C2 WHs with my Tengu I could pull anywhere from 30M-70M/hr solo. Granted getting into a Tengu isn't quick and it takes a lot of investment but I could pay for my plex in just a few days running with a C3 WH corp. And I believe Drakes are usable as well and a bit cheaper, but damn Tengus are good at it. Ganking is a risk but having your head on a swivel like a smart pilot keeps you safe from gankers looking for easy pickings.
now i know ... KNOW i used to be able to do level 4's in my cane but im getting my ass handed to me on them now...
Just started playing again along with some other real life mates.
Been doing lvl 4's, making a fair bit.
Two of us kill stuff, myself in a myrm and other in a drake (i think?) with another mate or two salvaging.
Been making a tidy profit.
I think it will be awhile before we get back out to null sec like we used to be.
I've never had more fun, doing anything else, in any other game, ever...

srsly, bombing is my calling!
So I just started playing. I'm going through the career tutorials. Is there anything I should be aiming at right away? Any advice or perhaps links to good resources for a new player? I'm not really sure what I want to do right now, but I definitely want to try pvp.
After checking out tutorials I recommend joining Red Vs Blue. Those groups run some exciting (and structured) team PvP and also provide good advice/support if you wish to go farther down the PvP road. No commitment, no SP too small, and great fun.

If you like Mining, lurking the Mining Channel is a good start and listening to Swamp_Thing. If you're into market manipulation you can just head straight to Jita IV, sell a plex or two, and start making money (Note: 101% of Jita IV chat is bullshit and scams.)
Finally, just be sure to have you skill queue filled.
Ok, thanks a lot. Is there a specific skill package I should be aiming at or does it all depend on what you want to end up doing?
There are a few core skills, specifics depends on what race/weapon system you want to use though. EVEMon is a good program to help you create a skill plan once you know what you want to do.
Stuff related to fitting (increased CPU/PG, decreased module usage etc), targeting, navigation, drones to a certain extent, are all pretty universal for combat roles.
