Removing or Changing Avatar .DATs

I have a problem with my computer where whenever there's an avatar on my screen I drop to about 3-4 FPS. When there's multiple avatars on my screen the game comes completely unplayable and just keeps freezing up. Is there any way I can remove the .dat for avatars or change it to something that won't lag me? At Tiamat when everyone summons their Garudas my whole game locks up and I get like 0.1 FPS... so if I could at least do it just for Garuda that would help a lot. Thanks.

This has happened to me a few times at random events, Tiamat, Cerberus, etc.
But i was never able to find a common factor.
Also i was confused because under the same circumstances a few minutes after the spike it would be fine, no lag or whatever, which made me go irl

So my questions are:
Are you sure its the avatars?
and if yes
Does it happen every single time without fail?

And i guess to answer your question, i've seen pics of modded avatars, such as vrtra in ronfaure, so yea its possible but i really have no idea how you would find the avatar .dat

Aren't they in the modelviewer, like any other NPC? (I've never gone looking for them, but I'd think they must be.)

Yea they are in the Model Viewer.

Just change them into animals or something.

Rather than replacing them, I'd say to fiddle with settings to see if you can fix it. Maybe you've tried that already. I think you'd replace 66-73 under 97.

Not sure where Diabolos pet is, 1-159-51 is one but it might not be the pet.

It's something with this graphics card or driver. I have a pretty shitty computer and a shitty onboard graphics card but it's usually fine. It's not just avatars. It actually happens by telepoints as well and in the whole Apocalypse Nigh BCNM. There's probably some other things that do it too but that's all I really remember. Yes Doofus, it happens EVERY time and NEVER goes away when there's avatars on my screen. As for using the Model Viewer to change th .DATs, I have an old ass Model Viewer on my computer I'll check out, or I'll look for a new one and check in there... I'm not really experienced with changing .DATs as I've never really done it before.

You could try DAT modding the stuff thats laggin you ya, if you need an updated model viewer or Altana viewer or something, questions on what to do, check out ffxidats.com or Gulk's site Neko-sentai.com(NSFW). If you go to Gulk's, theres a new(ish) thread, should still be on the first list of threads under the FFXI section (not the DAT sections, the primary ffxi one) Called "Model Viewer Altana Viewer Lists Help", It has the latest MV/AV lists.^^

I'm not really experienced with changing .DATs as I've never really done it before.

The way I do it:

Change orginal .dat to read this:
C:\...\ROM\159\1.DAT Change that to C:\...\ROM\159\1.DAT_diablos
Add new DAT to the folder.
When you want to switch back just delete the current ...\1.DAT and rename ...\1.DAT_diablos back to ...\1.DAT.

Nice, found the .DATs and everything, dunno what to change it to. >_> Don't care what it looks like, just whatever won't lag me I tried looking for some variations of the avatars that might not lag me like the regular ones do, but didn't have much luck.

I tried these reskinned avatars but they still lagged me so I just changed it to this Vrtra Wyvern and it works fine now with no lag :D

I should probably change Ghrahs too as I just remembered those lag me like avatars >_>

those are pretty nice, maybe i should play on PC more often, atm all i got is the race converter and a dat that makes my hume shirtless 8) hes hot
