I may be wrong, but I don't think Taj would do something like this to someone unless they had it coming. And it doesn't sound like any of them did.

I may be wrong, but I don't think Taj would do something like this to someone unless they had it coming. And it doesn't sound like any of them did.

It is unfortunately really very easy to read other's PM's on phpBB. I used to admin for a board that one day crashed, and in doing so lost a lot of guides written by our users. The only way to get them was to go through the backup, which wouldn't you know, also contained all of the user PM's in plain text. (I was a little surprised to find them there, but there wasn't any kind of information that would be considered secret.) Backing up the board was something as simple as clicking Backup and Save As or something. I think anyone with admin rights would be able to easily obtain any info that had been sent through PMs. Even with the long log of text and symbols, Ctrl F and some keywords could turn up some interesting dirt in no time.

Maybe UltimaLS should let Taj root around in thier PHP code to see where they got backdoored? That way Detective Taj can restore his reputation and catch the crooks!

Mahal: Assuming that's not your char name, care to explain why you chose it? Just curious since on the Wiki thread a fake SS of Taj's PayPal receipt had his name as "Taj Mahal".

It just makes it seem like you know more than you're letting onto.

There is no feature to allow ease of viewing in the forum by default. HOWEVER! There is 2 ways an admin CAN view PM's:

1) View the actual Databases tables through php**admin and view the data directly. This requires a bit of effort as the pm's are also stored by ID for users so you gotta match id to name. still very doable, and no way to prevent it 100% as the forum has to be able to read it to show it to he receiptent.

2) Install a custom modification to the forum that simplifies the process of spying on users PM's.

3) Download database backup. Use backup to recreate the forum on an own machine.
