Mahal: Assuming that's not your char name, care to explain why you chose it? Just curious since on the Wiki thread a fake SS of Taj's PayPal receipt had his name as "Taj Mahal".

It just makes it seem like you know more than you're letting onto.

let's just say some people got screwed for a pretty common but still lame act only because of their associations. and whoever is responsible made a couple slips- the address and the guy who lost 25 bucks instead of it being put on a diff cc

could also say that cached sites are showing an interesting img or two, but those are kinda hard to get to

I would like to clear a few things up:

A) Ultima runs vBulletin, PM's are NOT accessable by Admins without modification to the base software, which has not been done in the two years I have been running the board. This is something that we do not need to do, therefore private messages are indeed, private messages.

B) Kalia's access did not have access to the raw database where you COULD read PM's.

C) My best guess at this point is someone forced their way into the MySQL database some how, that is still under investigation. If this is indeed the case, they probably copied the database and sorted through over 6,000 PM's to piece together data. After which collecting said data, they then launched the attack on our accounts.

D) The people that did this, they are reading these messages and having a field day within their own right. The people that think this is cool or good entertainment, just wait until it happens to you and then you will rethink how cool certain people seem to be....


In the end for me, will I quit? I don't know... I enjoyed this game with out the crap-drama that plauges this scene. None of my stuff was really touched, so I just lost lowbie gear, crafting supplies and some gil. The other people involved did not deserve this in anyway, shape or form.

This is a dark day for Valefor and the FFXI community, ecspecially for those people I have been in Ultima with since Nov. '04.

Ah, I think vBulletin is what we switched to after our php crash. I never figured out how to read PMs on there but then I never tried either. But if there is a way from an admin account, all one needs to do is get access to an admin account.
