Well, I won't pretend to be a fan of all things Ultima, but I will say that whoever did this could have picked from any of several far more deserving Valefor LSs.

I think freak had the best attitude -- whoever did this seriously needs to get a tan... or proper medication, whichever comes first.

I really hope it works out for you guys. Ultima's been a decent shell, and like kachi said, didn't do anything to merit this.

I could be wrong on the dates so i'm not going to list any, but didn't they just do billing maintenance? That would prevent world transfers.

i heard that radiance has indeed kicked taj for all of the account hacks and there's a ton of drama within the shell. makes sense. didn't he have access to divisortheory's email? essentially having access to all of divisor's forum passwords? those characters ending up on leviathan AND getting handed pearls right off the bat is way too fishy and was probably planned in advance by other linkshell members as well. like someone said, occam's razor.

Who the hell gives a random person(Familiar name/Aegis or not) a linkpearl fresh off the bat from transferring servers without doing a bit of background checking? Regardless of whether or not you were desperate for a tank to log on, it emulates similar actions of one of those lses that shouts in Whitegate trying to recruit members. Seems a bit reckless of that linkshell tbh...unless I'm obviously missing something.

In all my time on all different boards since the day that FFXI started in the US I've yet to find a group of people who didn't get their accounts stolen for a reason. It's true innocents have been caught in the crossfire, but typically the collective of a group of accounts were taken for some specific reason or another. It's been beaten to death for years, don't use the same password that you use for forums for your ffxi password, don't give out your account info no matter how much you trust someone and don't be stupid. Does it suck for them, certainly, but it happens, I've had my account stolen and I learned...I also never made a post to anyone about it either, I realized it was my mistake. SE doesn't owe you anything for leaving your password accessible even through illicit means.

let's just say some people got screwed for a pretty common but still lame act only because of their associations.

If it was tied to the whole DT thing then that's pretty weak. A few of the people weren hardly even active in the game anymore and one guy came into the ls after DT had left it for the most part. Hell, he hasn't even really been a part of Ultima for more then six months now.

Besides the ls and the pm thing, the only other common thread was that these were all good people. Two of them were in my ls before moving to Ultima and they never had any issues or problems with anyone. Two others, Garret and Sarah, are two of the nicest people I've encountered in game.

Bear in mind, Garret also runs a public dynamis shell, so whoever did this also f'd over a large number of people who don't even know who DT or Ultima even is. Thankfully the runs should continue on, but that also leads me to believe it wasn't an 'insider' as they'd know they were screwing with people outside of Ultima as well.
