Honest question.

Am I wrong in believing there's no practical way to obtain someone's account information other than:

1) Agreeing to download some kind of a program.
2) Having your account information in one form of another, placed some place over the internet (whether in a PM, post, IM, e-mail, /tell, whatever).

I'm sure there are ways outside of those two options in extreme conditions but, not a method that an average person/computer would be capable of I'd think?

Because he is harassing Taj while anonymous. It's not complicated. If you want to harass someone, post your character name.

so can we be done with the fucking around? taj got info he sholdn't have, let others know what it was, and this happened, apparently. this also means if it indeed wasn't taj, he shouldn't have a hard time pinning a relatively small group of who it could be (i'm guessing an irc chan regular, as taj was probably letting people know as he was digging up dvs's shit). doesn't clear taj entirely if its true, but tough shit I guess. he needs to pin who it is and work on getting ppl their accts back.

"anonymous harassment" involves 2 concepts, the first one is a given, the second one isn't. You wanna sit here and argue with me about how someone who obviously has inside info to help resolve an issue (that you said off the bat should be resolved) is harassment? It's not harassment just because you don't like the possibility being presented and no amount of chest-beating is going to change that.

2 was never killed as a possibility, it's very likely every single last one of the people who lost their accounts PMed eachother the info, no one in this topic at all has denied such a thing.

Being a language guy I gotta comment on the irony side-argument.

The "proper" meaning of irony is basically doing something with one intention that produces a different result, that result being opposite, or close to opposite of what was intended.


If Taj had nothing to do with it, then he simply did some stuff for the guy with the intention of being a nice guy, or at least looking like a nice guy, but instead resulted in him looking like a bad guy to people outside the situation.


That is, in fact, a very good (albeit not perfect) example of irony. Someone arguing that it's not is also incredibly ironic, as it's a commonly misunderstood term, people are aware of this, and he was trying to "correct" someone but instead showed an improper understanding of the term. Or maybe not even a misunderstanding of the term, but a lack of the critical thinking to see it.


Also, wow @ aurik ignoring how many freaking pages of people saying DT was *not* kicked from his linkshell but left of his own accord.
