As bad as it is to say it, I wouldn't be surprised if it really was one of the people who knew everyones' information. Say they got hacked themselves, server hop, etc, make it look all nice and kosher.

I hope you all can get your accounts back and hopefully find out who did this.

Pretty dam sure kalia's forum acc was used which has admin rights and this person used this account to read personal Private Message that had peoples ID and pass in them.

Been able to confirm with the people i have spoken to that they did use Forum PM to give someone else thier info.

This is my theory, no lol DVS or windower.

I wouldn't doubt what you were saying if they all ended up on the same server. But they didn't.

PS. they tried taking my account, what you probably don't know is i live in au and was up and online at the time and changed my pass ASAP.

That function is standard, no way to turn it off.

They can even read edit histories and see posts that got deleted! ^.^

So DivisorTheory had access to PMs with the people's info? And they coincidentally get hacked just 2 weeks after DT gets forced out of the linkshell? And the hacking is set up to frame Taj and Ryko, the two people who ruined DT's credibility?

Did the Ultima users use the Linkshell community a lot? That's a way right there to find POL IDs if a computer gets compromised (yeah, I know about the PS2/Xbox players...).

I have been playing this game sinse 2004 and I dont think I have done anithing to anyone that wuld make them do this to me or my friends.

I'm a quiet person and usely dont post or look at thise forms. I just pray to god I can fix this and get back to my friends on Valefor.

Some of us are talking about this on IRC and I wanna toss some stuff out there for people to think over.

A) Probably the most important thing to realize is this person obviously reads BG. Use of names etc, Ryko being sent a more or less anonymous PM. (Any Admin wanna match up IPs on what is probably an alt account?)

B) I'd pretty much rule out Taj, cause if he was gonna do anything to anyone's account I would've put money that it would've been Divisor's account that would've gotten jacked. Taj isn't exactly a knight in shining armor, but it doesn't seem to fit his MO to do this.

C) Some of these facts don't sit well with me. Why split up the accounts? Correct me if I'm wrong but this is how I see it. Some accounts are on Levi, some are on Hades. Some are recovered, some are not. Some are missing items/gil/etc, some are intact, they've just been moved. (Do I have this correct?)

D) If it is someone inside the LS, past/present and they have the information. Has any left the shell recently, either kicked or just left? Did this(these) person(people) know any of this information. Did anyone receive any files recently that may potentionally have a keylogger? Best way to figure out the keylogger. Scan for one etc.

E) Like I said, I'd be surprised if this wasn't someone from your LS. As I said above, some of the facts we've been presented with don't really sit well. Some missing items, some not, different servers, etc.

F) Someone mentioned on IRC that they think it's two people working together, hence why some characters went to other servers.

G) Mentioned above, the person(s) who did this read BG. Taja, Ryko(Levi)shet, etc. (Side note: Is Ruke a Galka? I'll be honest, I know shit about Ruke, but I think he is? I find that kind of funny because of Ruke/Ryko confusion thing etc I'll shut up now.) It's either insult to injury with someone showing off how close they are to you or it's meant to frame Taj. Maybe both. Get Taj to buy a bow for one of the characters, get in his LS, etc.

H) The timing of this whole thing is rather odd. The Divisor/Taj topic gave someone a patsy. Things have settled down a bit in the drama department.

I) The odds of many LS members' accounts all being stolen very close together is pretty high, in my eyes at least. I honestly find it hard to believe that somehow one person had all these POL IDs, got a keylogger on their PC 2 days+ ago and since the installation of the keylogger and until the accounts started disappearing has logged into every single one, typed in the passwords and POL IDs. (I understand that it is other peoples' accounts, but people are lazy and aren't likely to actually use the guest log in to log someone else in if it's their private home PC. I know I wouldn't want to dig around for a piece of paper that has POLID/PW on it that could get easily lost everytime I have to log in person X.)

J) One thing I just remembered and don't remember if it was pointed out earlier. The picture of Levishet that was PM'd to Ryko was taken by Levishet. You can tell because he's at the top of the bottom party's list. Your name doesn't bounce around in the party list (obviously everyone knows this.) But I think between taking the pic themselves after dat modding it to look like Ryko, naming it Ryko, sending it to Ryko, etc, they're just trying to show off and flaunt the fact that they know this community.

That's all I can come up with for now and I know I'm just rambling but maybe this will give you guys an outside perspective. It is seriously shitty that this had to happen and I do wish you the best.

Just a clear up for the IT Impaired...

crapBB(ie phpBB) does NOT allow admins to view PM's _FROM THE FORUM ITSELF BY DEFAULT_

There is no feature to allow ease of viewing in the forum by default. HOWEVER! There is 2 ways an admin CAN view PM's:

1) View the actual Databases tables through php**admin and view the data directly. This requires a bit of effort as the pm's are also stored by ID for users so you gotta match id to name. still very doable, and no way to prevent it 100% as the forum has to be able to read it to show it to he receiptent.

2) Install a custom modification to the forum that simplifies the process of spying on users PM's.


I'm not saying thats not what happened, im just stopping the false information posted above before everyone panics about there pm's being read.

the website admin would generally need to be really desperate for information or have a good reason to, to take the effort to poke into the pm table just to read them.

But that being said, dont post your damn account information on a forum where you dont trust the root admin.. or better yet, dont post your account info to anywhere

I dont use trashy forum software at will, so i dont know much about phpbb besides the VERY limited things we have in phpbb2 on windower forums and the short time i used phpbb3 on ls forums.
