    Re: Rumours about new job abbreviation

    Looks like bullshit to me and people need to stop saying SE said 2, 3, 5 jobs. They never confirmed anything more then, "There will be more then one new job". I mean seriously, MDC and EMU are really bad attmpts cause wtf could they be. Other then Ostrich.

    Re: Rumours about new job abbreviation

    if EMU is indeed elementalist heres thats jobs ability list from FFTA

    Description
    ===========
    The mysterious Elementalists use the powers of nature to attack and spread
    status effects among the enemy party. Though they are a Magical class, they
    have bad Magic stat growth, so it's recommended to level up your Viera as Red
    Magi or Summoners. Their spells work like the Ninja's Veils, only they deal
    much better damage. Fire Whip is one of their best spells; Disabling enemies is
    always good. Earth Heal is a concentrated healing ability, great for tight
    situations. White Flame is a very powerful healing spell; it is not only
    stronger than Curaga but also looks much cooler. Shining Air is great; Blinding
    a unit makes it nearly useless. Confusion with Evil Gaze isn't too good;
    Confused units may still attack your party and it's better to use Charm
    attacks. Heavy Dust is almost as good as Fire Whip, mainly on melee fighters.
    Sliprain is also useful on powerful units. Elementalshift isn't too useful
    unless you use lots of Black Magic and the like. You'll have to use trial and error to find what the enemy's weakness is.

    Stat Growth
    ===========
    Movement: 4 Defense: 6 (70%)
    Jump: 2 HP: 7 (00%)
    Evade: 60 MP: 1 (20%)
    Speed: 1 (90%) Magic Power: 7 (70%)
    Attack: 8 (40%) Magic Resistance: 7 (60%)

    Spirit Magic
    ============

    A-Abilities
    -----------
    NAME - AP - MP - ITEM - DECRIPTION
    Fire Whip - 100 - 12 - Scarlette - Fire damage and disables
    Earth Heal - 200 - 12 - Fleuret - Heals HP
    White Flame - 100 - 24 - Flamberge - Area heals HP
    Shining Air - 200 - 12 - Djinn Flyssa - Wind damage and blinds
    Evil Gaze - 300 - 12 - Joyeuse - Dark damages and confuses
    Heavy Dust - 200 - 12 - Estoc - Earth damage and immobilizes
    Sliprain - 200 - 12 - Silver Rapier - Water damages and slows
    Elementalshift - 300 - 6 - Epeprism - Shifts target's elemental weakness
    so its basically a geomancer that uses similar equipment as rdm.

    If it's a job from Tactics, then we know it's fake.

    Which can make perfect sense where a mixup was made. Someone said those job abbreviations were in the new final fantasy, and someone assumed it was final fantasy XI, when it really may have been for final fantasy tactics advance. Kinda like that game where one person whispers something into the ear of the person next to them, and after it passes through enough people, the end result doesn't resemble the original message.

    I believe it was in one of the first couple Japanese interviews regarding WotG. Elmer might have translated it.

    They said there were 3 new jobs in the works and they were trying to fit each into one of the 3 roles in a party (supporting, damage dealing, and tanking).
    Rememeber those first sources stating that ToAU would cater to low level jobs and solo play ??

    Think of 'first sources' as 'pre-beta'.

    Re: Rumours about new job abbreviation

    EMU wouldn't be Elementalist, period. Not unless someone can explain where there's a "U" in it. Elemental User? Sure, SE couldn't quite figure out how to tighten up the name a bit. Whoever suggested Emulator is more likely correct. I'm sure SE gets plenty enough requests for a morpher/mime to make it happen. Why they wouldn't just call it Morpher/Mime like they have in the past, is (likely because the info is inaccurate) beyond me.

    Personally, I'd think they get more requests for Geomancer than for either Morpher or Mime, or even the two put together, but idk, maybe in Japan it's highly requested. I wasn't really expecting Dancer either so maybe I'm just that not good of a judge. Time Mage and Medic are highly possible though (Medic and Cleric both seemed like plausible alternative names to Chemist/Alchemist considering the crafting guild).

    I wouldn't be surprised if it turns out to be true, even by coincidence, but I still doubt the info.

    P.S. If it's Mime, I will literally piss myself with joy, assuming they don't entirely fuck it up.

    All theory fail based on the fact that DAN should be DCR for Dancer.

    Shouldn't really even start a thread like this unless you have some concrete, or even semi-concrete(like those scans of Time Mage which turned out to be nothing)... it's baseless speculation, and in this case, not even reasonably possible. SE wouldn't announce job abbreviations to jobs they haven't even announced yet... let alone three others at once. This probably came the Dancer forums on KI and it's probably where it should have stayed ;/.

    Most of these jobs seem to be FFV debuts.

    Re: Rumours about new job abbreviation

    Based on SE's track record of 3 jobs with past expansions(RoZ: drg/sam/nin ToAU: blu/cor/pup). I'd think it's reasonable to assume we'll most likely be seeing 3 this time also. Although I don't know how closely it would follow the 1 new job for each job class(melee/tank/support). Either way some confirmation to backup or debunk these "Rumours" would be great.

    Re: Rumours about new job abbreviation

    calling BS for various reasons.

    1. seems like too many jobs. My bet is on 3, because Zilart and ToA both gave 3.

    2. if they're gonna reveal another job at Osaka event or Fanfest, you don't think they'd spoil it by giving us job abbreviations now would they?

    3. If its a JP magazine, the JP don't really care for name abbreviations. Altho they do see the 3 letter abbreviations when using <job>, they have their own set of 1 character abbreviations for each job, such as ??or ? (WAR, PLD respectively) and even the Dancer has one already (its shown on the EN WotG flash site too) ?.

    4. The naming structure for the abbreviations seem wrong. They generally have a 1st rule of avoiding vowels, or if that doesnt look nice or is taken already, then the first 3 letters of the job's name. They also don't put 2 same letters in a row.

    DNC does seem more likely than DAN. Both are possible, but DNC would be more likely because DAN sounds like someones name. Then again Samurai is SAM...

    EMU just sounds lame if its Emulator.

    TMM. If this were so, Summoner should be SMM. TIM or TMG are more likely for Time Mage

    MDC. Medic? MED sounds cooler tho.

    Actually, upon reflection, introducing a Mime and renaming it Emulator does sound like something SE would do ~_~
