CMOS and Microphone
OK, I just recently reset my CMOS battery because my PC clock was running a bit too fast and I was tired of sync it every hour (<3 Timestamp). Anyways, as soon as I did, my front panel microphone slot won't work anymore whereas my headphones in the front panel still does. But, here's the strange part, every time I start up Windows XP Home Edition, I can hear myself talk for about 1-2 seconds then it goes dead, like I don't have a microphone plugged in. I've trying to fix this, like updating BIOS, drivers for my mobo (Asus M2N-E), etc. Nothing works, any assistance atm would be very helpful. Thanks.

You think this is the real Dmitry?
Re: CMOS and Microphone
Are your sound controller or microphone drivers up to date? Doesn't hurt to check those.
Have you tried looking in the CMOS settings at things you might have had set that got reset to the default when you reset the battery? I haven't heard of anything in CMOS controlling the microphone or sound ports that I can think of right now, but it doesn't hurt to check yours out.

Re: CMOS and Microphone
Did you try the back side ports? they may be connected differently in the front, and that connection may have been turned off in CMOS(default maybe) when you changed the battery.
