The one we fought was an automaton possessed by Alexander, no? We've never seen or heard of Alexanders "real" form (which I still think was destroyed when the Gordeus star went supernova)
I still Odin as a viable choice, and while i'm not that sure of the Odin+Horse combo, the floating Odin has nothing wrong with it, in terms of size/animations/power.
I dont feel he's strong like nothing else, hes just the Celestial of Darkness, so he's a step over the elemental ones but on par with the Moon Wolf (who destroyed a Yagudo army) or the Keeper of Dreams. right now, for shape, size and sheer power I'd say only Bahamut is THE one, considering his top roles in any other FF too.
after all the "Pact" thing is always - i dont side with you but since you defeated me I'm gonna lend you my help, or at least a bit of it - , it'd suit Odin even with him being ruler of the dark realm.
Odin without his horse is only slightly higher than Diabolos, with more subtle idle animations.
Alexander is at least twice the size of Titan with many moving parts and currently has no walking or running animations. If added, he would be the only completely immobile Avatar (which isn't horrible, considering his long range attacks.)
From a technical point of view, Odin off his horse is the most likely TOA avatar. From a storyline point of view...NEITHER of them are very likely, because in both instances of them manifesting, they were in complete control of their host. (Spoilish: I wonder how many people noticed Razfahd's odd speech patters at the end of the final CS...)
However, like many things in this game, there is a loophole in the story. They only asserted their will for the purpose of killing their opponent, meaning normally they would be dormant or be called at will (As Luzaf kinda did in Periqia and Nyzul.) They could allow themselves to have parts of their power drawn off of them, like the other 9 Avatars, without their full power manifesting in the Summoner. Odin only chooses one knight at a time. We wouldn't all becomes Dark Riders unless he wanted us to, and he only ever needs one.
I must stress, however, that when it all comes down to it, they probably wont be added. They are both far more detailed than the other 9 (especially Alexander), so SE could yell 'PS2 limitations' and that would be the end of it.
His Astral Flow ability would be AoE Death. Hmmm, that isn't overpowered?I dont feel he's strong like nothing else
In FF9, there was an ability that made it so if Odin didn't auto-death with his sword, it would do wind damage. They could make it like that and a little like Ruinous Omen; a random death chance based on the strength of the mob and if it 'misses', darkness damage.
Some things about Alexander: (Spoiler-ish, I guess?)
-If he was added, I wouldn't be surprised if he gets none of the abilities he had in the last mission. Perhaps those are the abilities of the machine, not standalone Alex. (Whose body might not exist according to Rocl's theory, which makes sense and would explain the lack of protocrystal.)
-The floaty Alex model is about the width/height of Diabolos, according to ModelViewer. If they use that, his attack animations would be like an archaic chariot, I'd imagine.
Also, people keep mentioning "only 1 pact" or "when you make a pact you are possessed by them". For the former, isn't it technically possible for everyone in the game to use the same HQ beastman hat (CoP) and summon the same guy? For both, what if that's just regarding Ragnorak and such?
If there were an Odin quest: (His abilities do seem a bit too HNM-ish like Bahamut, but maybe that'd be his niche.)
I'd imagine it'd be against Odin Prime and not the Odin. The non-pact/gil rewards should be the rest of the Valhalla set.
If there were and Alex quest:
The non-pact/gil rewards should be pieces of Razfahd's "Alexander" armor and/or an automaton model based on Alexander.
Is that floating odin model used outside of that one cutscene?
Remember though, Tenzen's people had to sacrifice thousands of lives to get Phoenix into the state she was in at the beginning of CoP. Before that, she was essentially in a coma. Fenrir became summonable because the Star Onion Brigade brought Joker back to life, bringing Karaha-Baruha's soul back from the dead, and thusly returning Fenrir to our world in an incomplete form.Originally Posted by Sagacious Sundi
But were they going to add in Phoenix, why wouldn't they add her from CoP instead of WotG? I wonder if you would get an actual Phoenix or Selh'teus.
Honestly, if Phoenix were to show up anywhere, I'd expect it to be in the Far East expansion, since that seems to be where she "originates" (so to speak). They could just kinda touch on the efforts made to bring her back as she appeared in CoP, and show her being brought back to life in an even more glorious nature, actually reviving for some reason (good or bad...), allowing you to fight Phoenix Prime later on.Originally Posted by Septimus

Well first off, I think if Odin were to become an avatar, it would have to be the mounted form. Just wouldn't be right without it.
Secondly, based just off the abilities, Alex seems reasonable based on the fact that a terror and bind are pretty much the last reasonable things a smn doesn't have.
Lastly, it would just about have to be Alex, I just don't believe they'd give us a 3rd dark avatar.
