One of the most inspiring things I've ever seen.

    The short version: http://www.i-am-bored.com/bored_link.cfm?link_id=25384

    The full lecture: http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid ... &plindex=6

    discuss

    Edit:

If you think the short version is good at all and wonder for just a second if the long one is "worth the watch," yes, yes it is. It is worth every single second that Randy speaks. Note that his speech in the long version starts at about 8 minutes in.

that's pimping your dream right there...
more reason for me to do what i want to do, and persuade my friends to do the same
that dude looked pretty happy considering the fact that he knows hes going to die pretty soon, reason why is, i'm guessing cause he's doing what he wanted to do and enjoyed life uptil now
    live with no regrets, right?

wow thats really something. my older brother went to Carnegie Mellon and was into computer sciences, I'm gonna have to ask him if he knew/had this professor.

Yeah this guy is helping me to really attempt to live my dream, which is to see the world. I know it sounds lame, but I mean like, everything there is to see. I have a list of like 50+ places that I want to go to before I die, most of which are wayyyyy out there.

This made me cry (No really, I cried, had the tissue in hand with a snot bubble) The whole story then the part with his wifes birthday and the last line he said, it killed me. That was harsh. Very good story however. Very inspirational.

Its realy sad that such a great person has to go with that young age. I didnt understand some parts because of my semi-bad english but this lecture was so full of meaning, of good advices and inspiring. He realy must have had a great life, i realy don't think i could still make so many jokes and be such a nice and happy-looking person in that hard time.
I cant even describe what i felt when the part with his wifes birthday came... his last lecture, such a big personal event for him and he just takes the time he has and gives it to someone else. (probably said this in a bad way but hope you get what i want to say)

Great man, great lecture, thanks for sharing.

Wow, good for him! It's reassuring to people like this every so often.

However, it would SUCKED to be the next professor up after him.

Actually sat down and just finished the entire lecture. The story was nothing short of awe inspiring. I will take at least one thing from the video, and that's to let my daughter paint her walls with whatever she see's fit :D

Is the full version worth the 100 minutes to watch or will I get basically the same thing out of the 5 minute clip?

Damn, it's really long. Anyways, does the audience knows he is going to die, or he reveals that at the end, or?

Edit: I'm checking the long ver., the hindi lady is ranting about some crap.

Re: One of the most inspiring things I've ever seen.

Most of the audience knows he is going to die, but he tells everyone at the beginning just to make sure.

Oh in the long version he starts speaking at about 8 minutes in.

And yes the long version is worth every second (err at least every second of him speaking). I watched it today finally during a 3 hour break between classes. I had to convince myself to not shed a tear because I was in a computer lab with like 30 other people...

That sounds like a good idea. I've got two hours to burn tomorrow between classes, I guess I'll watch it then.

    Quoted for truth.

The second head fake had me on the verge of losing it. This is definately a video everyone should see at least once. I know I'll watch it at least one more time because it was just that good.

Question: The date this was posted appears to be the 20th (8 days ago). Was that the date this took place as well?

Video won't load properly for me completely, but I did watch that part and I'd have to agree.

    i wasnt really inspired >_>

i guess im 'that' person in the thread

i dont know, i think its easier to live a happy life when you have a lot of money and get everything you want. but i guess thats what the video is about, and instead of embracing that, i was just frustrated that (my) life isnt like that.

You're just an empty soul Niro >.>

Life is how you make it, try hard enough and you will get it. If you don't have it, you either have not tried enough and don't really want it or you're working on it.

He reminded us to believe in what we can acheive and to believe in other's, not how wealthy we are.
