So if A-rod leaves the Yankees, and they can scoop up Mike Lowell you wouldn't root for him? If the Yankees give Schilling a one year deal, you wouldn't root for him? What if they take a chance on a Matt Clement come back? Did you hate Johnny Damon when they signed him? How about Bellhorn, Meyers, and Mientkiewicz? People that think the name on the back of a jersey is more important than the name on the front are retarded.

PS-> Best record in baseball this year 8) Thanks to the AL winning the All-star game, the Sox would have home field advantage for all three series' if they make it.
Are there shirts in new york that say "lowell blows schilling" or something to that attune? no. my point is that if you go into a bar and jeter or a-rod comes into the game not only are you around people who are most likely wearing something insulting them but you are probably going to hear people start the usual name calling, usually to the attune of them being gay. talking shit about the other team's players is normal. however, the degree that red-sox nation loathes jeter and a-rod (not all, but def most) would be nearly completely forgotten if one of them were in a red sox uniform.

damon? people didnt specifically hate on damon in new york. they didnt ban together and make shirts about hating him. same with all the other players you named (except maybe schilling but still not like "red sox nation"). and if there were shirts, they were nowhere near as prevalent as the ones around boston. ive been to new york a few times recently driving around and did not see one anti-red sox bumper sticker. i am from an hour south of boston in MA and from driving in not just my small town but also boston you cannot go three cars without seeing some stupid yankee bashing sticker.

and i personally do not have problems with most of the red sox, im actually pretty neutral. i like papi and manny cant stand youkilis, varitek, and when nixon was there him too. am i going to form a "nation" and cry about it? and wear shirts displaying how cliche i am? no.

The other night proved we have a lot more fun and are better dancers than the yankees too.

I mean come on Papelbon was down to his briefs and undershirt on the pitchers mound spraying booze all over Youk while doing an Irish Jig. Yeah our bad for having some fun.

Also explain why one of your players signed a kids Red Sox plate with his name and "Red Sox suck" in fenway last week. But we all know the New York Yankees would never do anything that is unsportsmanlike or rude to any players or fans.

The people that buy those shirts and bumper stickers are what we call "Pink Hat Nation." Pretty much fairweather fans that didn't watch a game between 1995 and 1999, or '99 to 2003.

Ok, well then apparently i am a little ignorant here, even if living in boston. Explain to me in greater detail the difference between the two cause i was unaware there were two groups.

Exactly. Pink Hat Nation are the people that make the Yankees/Red Sox rivalry more than just the best 18-25 games of baseball every year. They're the people supporting the guy down by the green line with his PVC pipe sales rack of shirts.

Hmm Perhaps I will have to redirect my prejudices then.

Still hate Youkilis and Varitek though.

    Re: Red Sox Nation

I've had a lot of experience with Red Sox fans over the years and while they like to claim that everyone hates the Yankees (I'm sure many people do), Red Sox fans have to be the most outspoken, arrogant, unintelligent baseball fans on the face of the planet. I swear I have met maybe 3 Red Sox fans who are actually fans of the game. The rest are hardly even Red Sox fans, they're more like Yankee haters. It doesn't matter what the Sox do as long as the Yankees lose. The atmosphere at Fenway reflects this, in my opinion. Fans in Fenway make ZERO noise until the Sox do something. It's such a loser mentality. Maybe its a reflex after 86 years of failure, I don't know. Maybe I'm just completely biased but Yankee fans always seem to have a much more general knowledge and appreciation of the game of baseball. Not to say all Sox fans are unintelligent jerks, nor that no Yankee fans are idiots, but overall it seems like the majority is true. Maybe once the bandwagon fans of 2004 get off the train, the real fans will show up again.

Honestly I think this happens everywhere. There are a lot of Yankees fans that arent really fans of the game, they just don't like Boston.

and I thought it was only the soccer moms who got butthurt about the signature. Shelly Duncan signed the paper, Shelly Duncan also happens to be a psycho who was obviously joking.

Yea not all fans are jackasses, just some of them. My roommates and I went to one of the Sox/Orioles games at Camden. We cheered "Let's go Mets!" every time they showed the Mets score on the scoreboard. The Boston Fans behind us just smiled and laughed a bit. They were cool people, nothing bad to say.

    Heh, friends we are then!

My roommates and I were watching the Mets game and Yankees/Sox game at the same time the nights they were on together. One of the roommates we have that we dont like is a Yankees fan. Every time the Sox made an out or scored we'd make sure to cheer as loudly as we can, and when they won we would parade down the hall cheering.

    We really hate this kid.

    Poor Mets

If there's any city that has horrible fans, it's Philadelphia. Now that the Phillies are in the post-season we can expect the national anthem to get boo'd, whoever throws out the first pitch to get boo'd, and some guy who will dress up as Santa Claus to get boo'd.

only thing I don't like about sox fans is they seem to think everyone else on earth gives a shit about the red sox... we don't.

I had two friends move to boston, and they still call me drunk during sox/yankees games and tell me about it, as if I were a friggin' yankees fan. I swear if they keep it up I will start rooting for the yankees.

Way to prove everyone right by being obnoxious.

I completely agree with the poster who talked about Red Sox fans' intelligence. ANY time you try to talk baseball with them, not 5 words in you'll be sure to hear "Yeah well even if the Red Sox lose, Yankees still bought the pennant." When in reality Red Sox are JUST as bad when it comes to spending money. Constant shit spewing from their mouths like "Manny Ramirez, don't you wish you had him?" when they try to trade him every fucking offseason.

Perfect example: Best friend of mine, Red Sox fan. Does know his shit. However, back in the day used to be the HUGGGEST Nomar fan just like the rest of Boston. The minute he was off the team it turned to "Fuck Nomar, he sucked." Fucking losers. They can bash A-Rod and Jeter all they want, but at the end of the day, they're already hall of famers.

Who can the Red Sox say that about? Schilling? Did his best on other teams.

Yankees are no longer the bandwagon team that they're hated for. Everyone needs to wake up and realize how far worse the Red Sox are in that category now.

    Way to read!

I'm a Mets fan, we just started cheering loudly because we hate the kid himself. He's a fucking tool and if you knew him you would do the same exact thing. I could honestly care less whether or not the Yankees win or lose, but the fact that he cares so much and is a creepy jackass we cheered as loudly as possible.

Next time you try to insult me, or anyone else, you should probably read more than one post to get some background information into what is going on. You just look like a jackass.

Umm, whether or not I read any posts does not mean you're not being downright obnoxious when you do that. Sooo... before you try to lash back at me when what I said wasn't even an insult, think a little bit. You were being obnoxious on purpose, don't be mad if you're called out on it.
