And as much as I feel bad for the things that he has done to you, I'm not going to end my friendship with him because of this fuck up. People make mistakes, people should pay for them, but that doesn't mean you have to give up on them. With your logic we should kill all criminals on sight, right?

Devoted friends are good, I'm not saying everyone should be like, "omg taj u suck i'm not your friend anymore." But if my friend stole a car, drove it halfway across the country, then called up the car's owner and mocked them for it... you won't see me in court saying, "OMG BUT HE'S NOT A BAD PERSON."

I suppose it is a little blind, and I certainly see my own fault here, but the truth is more along the line of I judged this person to be a good person, and I want to believe it. But you know what? Okay one guy has bought gil in 2004 and now pays for it 3 years later. But, how would the situation be if this were some of the more notorious players known across all servers? Roundhouse, Smokeone, Poof, etc. (Think whatever you want of these people, just using people who are known to have bad reps.) If Taj had nailed them, even without proof, just another "I DID IT FOR THE LULZ!!!!!" episode. Would BG still be going "omg Taj sucks you hacked them ; ; ; ; QQ" or would the majority of us be sitting back and laughing?

Now you're just inventing scenarios. Nobody has laughed at Taj hacking Roundhouse or Poof. Taj didn't drop Divisortheory's Mandau (I would not laugh, btw). There's no evidence that things would be any different had Taj done these things to other people, instead.

If we're playing what-if, I imagine that some people would be less sad that Taj hacked Takedown and removed his Warcry merits before worldshifting him, but his actions would be just as unacceptable.

Edit: Whether or not he'd be convicted isn't the point. You're arguing that in case A it's not okay to hack, in case B it is. Based on the person. Divisor it was okay. Ganiman/Wiki deal it was okay. In this case, it isn't. But for RH, etc it is. Not based on how much damage was done, but rather what (part of) the community thinks of someone.
