should redirects be made to abreviated items for both
"plus 1" and "+1"
eg:
"Behem. Mantle Plus 1"
redirect from
"Behemoth mantle plus 1?" and "Behemoth mantle +1"
or is the 2nd one useless work ?

You can't use +1 (or +2, or +3) in page names. The + sign is used as a joiner in HTML addresses. (Or something like that.)Originally Posted by Undeadhunter
Shouldn't be making any redirects anyway for improperly spelled items. The search function finds the items very well as TBR stated in another thread. People shouldn't be typing in names of titles into URL for items that may possibly by shortened. I dunno, I'm just saying I have full faith in the search function, because for whatever you type (as long as you don't have the wrong missing letters, it should work. There's a reason why you wouldn't want to make redirects from "BeHeMoTh manTle plUs 1"
Septy is right about the actual + sign though, it's part of a modifier when parsing URLs... so doesn't work right.![]()
personally, I think we should be making redirects for common full name spellings.
search pages (especially when you *know* what you're looking for) are unsightly, and there's little reason that if I type shura zunari kabuto that I shouldn't go directly to shura zunari kabuto.
that our wiki happens to title it shr. zn. kabuto because we imported all our item pages instead of building them ourselves is incidental.
I do agree that spelling errors (beyond the ultra common.. like imperial goldpiece vs imperial gold piece ) should not as a general rule have redirects; and capitalization -never- should. I just consider proper names versus abbreviated names to be a different category of redirect.
(honestly, I think it's unfortunate that we use abbreviated names for our item pages. although I understand why we needed it that way.)
Yay, let's find and track them all down!Originally Posted by Amele

along with all the pages that need [[Category:Translation]] amirite?!
yeah, I'll just be trying to catch them when I can; like if all of us builds it each time we search what we are confident is a 'full name' (i.e. Myochin kote plus 1) then we'll improve it over time, which is about the best I can ask for really. XD
Why not enable +'s in the page title, like en.wikipedia.org does? I think otherwiki does, too. Speaking of otherwiki, what about a list of search results popping up under the search box as you type, and certain sorting, math, and other functions that they have?
I have to see what we need in order for the wiki to handle that (+'s in Pagenames).. I dunno what it is. But I'll see if I can find the answer.
I will hunt anyone down that makes wrong redirects. For example, for the item, Myn. Kote Plus 1, maybe only one redirect will be necessary, that's only from page, Myochin Kote Plus 1. Not Myochin kote plus 1, not Myochin Kote plus 1; yes, there IS a difference.
is wiki that case sensitive it makes a difference between "plus" and "Plus"?
But anyway I think redirects for stuff like "Vlr. Gauntlets Plus 1" from "Valor Gauntlets Plus 1" are useful
yes it's that case sensitive.
this is an exception to the general amount of case sensing on the internet;
Math and other functions are being looked into at the mo I think. There's some talk about it in the other threads on here.Originally Posted by Khamsin
