I know it's an airshow, but I was asking about this particular one. You often get collision between 2 jet or one spectator, but this one looked particularly deadly.
Whenever this shit happends, they typically eject at the last second/moment they can because they try to force a crashing plane away from people or residential areas.Originally Posted by Kaylia
I asked because I wanted to know if the pilot survived after ejecting himself so close from the ground with that weird angle. Text made it looks like he managed to save his own ass, but that dude waited a lot longer than many would have waited before pressing the panic button. The way I see it with his rocket, the chair is just going to push him head first in the ground
would be hard to live after that anyway.

I think it's this the paint matches pretty well, but I can't find any pictures of that angle like the poster.Originally Posted by Kaylia

A Ukrainian fighter jet, swooping low in the middle of an acrobatic stunt, crashed into a large crowd at an air show near the western Ukrainian city of Lviv today, killing at least 78 spectators on the ground.
The jet, a Russian-built Sukhoi-27, appeared to lose control as it rolled and then banked as it approached the Sknyliv airfield. It clipped a strand of trees before skidding in flames across a tarmac and into the crowd, according to officials and television film of the crash.
The death toll climbed through the day, and officials tonight said that it could rise still higher as dozens of injured spectators were treated at hospitals in Lviv. At least 115 were injured, many of them critically.
Many of the spectators were killed or injured by debris and burning fuel that sprayed across the airfield as the jet skidded, breaking into pieces and bursting into flames. Television reports showed gruesome images of human remains and rescue efforts.
The jet's two crew members, colonels in the Ukrainian Air Force, ejected seconds before the jet's left wing clipped the ground. Television film showed their seats hurtling through the air. Both reportedly survived. One pilot landed several hundred yards from the jet's burning wrecked, his parachute wrapped around a pole.
Ukraine's president, Leonid D. Kuchma, cut short a vacation on the Crimean coast, arriving tonight in Lviv, not far from the Polish border.
The Interfax-Ukraine news agency quoted his spokeswoman as saying Mr. Kuchma had fired Volodymyr Strelnykov as air force commander and that Ukraine's defense minister had also fired the head of the 14th Air Force Division, which was celebrating its 60th anniversary at the air show.
Today's crash was one of the worst air show disasters in history. In 1988, 70 people were killed and hundreds were injured when three Italian Air Force jets collided in midair, and one of them plowed into a crowd at an air show at the American Air Force base at Ramstein, Germany.
The crash occurred just before 1 p.m. on a clear, nearly cloudless day. According to reports from the air show, the jet had taken off only moments before it crashed. Witnesses said the jet appeared to lose power as it swooped low and approached.
In the chaos, spectators used the microphone on a stage to call out the names of relatives and friends who were missing.
The Sukhoi-27, in use since the early 1980's, is one of the world's premier fighter jets, comparable to the American F-15. Built by Russia, it is a mainstay of the air forces of many of the former Soviet republics, and is widely exported.
thanks for linking, btw wth is the second one?
