^apparently the artist had developing schizophrenia, that was how he began perceiving what the same cat looked like as time (and his schizophrenia) progressed, lost the site where I got it from though

the artist with schizophrenia and the different pictures of cats is named Louis Wain. that website breaks it down into 5 stages, but it's still pretty interesting.
haha those graphs are hilarious.
I really doubt that this is a mirage, basically, given the nature of the phenomena, you can get to see a towering effect over the surface, although those could be confused with a city, they will not look as detailed (horizontally in particular) as in the picture shown. This is probably just a reflection on a glass.Originally Posted by Ramor
wish I could refind the site, but basically it said that the mirage was caused by a difference of pressure or something, I can't really remember why, i'll see if I can't dig it up againOriginally Posted by Viena
edit:
just google Penglai Mirage ;oA mirage takes place off east China coast in Penglai, on the tip of Shandong Province on May 7, 2006, with modern high-rise buildings, broad city streets and bustling cars as well as crowds of people were all clearly visible. Experts explained that a mirage is formed when moisture in the air becomes warmer than the temperature of sea water, which refracts rays of sunlight to create reflections of the landscape in the sky. After looking at it, what I believe is that the mirage itself is not the city, but the foggy effect you see over it. It makes sense looking at the second picture in the article, which is most probably taken in the opposite direction and allows you to notice the shape of the city, which is clearly distorted as it happens in a mirage. And the foggy effect over the city is just the mirage from the sky on the second pic.Originally Posted by Ramor
