Already done... The cape is lvl 69... it appears under Forager's mantle... a lvl 71 equip, and above Coeurl Mantle... a lvl 70 equip... Need I say more?Originally Posted by Katlan
Also, It has been shopped using the COrse cape, which has the same picture and goes inbetween the two capes, like the fake one does in the image above
Yeah the fact he put in Harvey before the Birdman part wasn't enough evidence for it being fake

It's strange no one has been known to have seen this NM. I have no desire fore the cape, but it's still interesting. The only solid info is it's dat information, which isn't much help. Caedarva Mire is comprised of four islands in all. The dat list is organized by each island. First listed there are all mobs on Azouph Island, followed by all mobs on Dvucca Island, then any NM's that on Azouph/Dvucca isles are all listed together. Some time after that there was the update that gave access to Hediva Island and added all of it's imps and soulflayers, so it's obviously not on Hediva. Sharug Island is still inaccessible and empty of any mob dats, so it's obviously not on Sharug either. Meaning it has to be either Azouph or Dvucca isle.
Concerning it's name and trying to deduce anything from it, it's really almost nothing to go on. For instance, in bhaflau remnants was Zebra Zachary. For a while people wondered what it was and how to spawn it. What would imply the Zebra part of the name? Something horse like? Of which FFXI has nothing. Something with stripes, maybe a bee? Eventually it was found out, and it's just a cockatrice mob with nothing that stands out as "zebra-esque" at all. So I don't think much of anything should be counted out just because some people think it "sounds awful bird-ish". Another example, Goblin Wolfman had approximately dick to do with a full moon. Name's imply little.
A few of the TAU NM's have unique spawn conditions. Three specifically, Percipiant Zoraal Ja, Lamia No.19, and the Gar Brothers. All were featured in a small update blurb that gave brief hints how they spawn.

As far as I know all the other TAU NM's are a lottery spawn (or now item spawned and Crystal Eater), or are quest/mission NM. If that's any indication it could be likely just a lottery spawn from other mobs.
So it's probably either: a lottery spawn from mobs rarely encountered, or has a very rare and unique spawn condition no one has considered. My money would be on a lottery from a handful of mobs that are a complete pain to access.
Me and my friend did just that. killed all the mobs in the area of C.Mire that leads to the Ship Fight. (sorry for being so vague, havent played FF for a while and forgot locations). Spent plenty of time there farming those imps, boots, and fomors.Originally Posted by Gwynplaine
This might be stretching a bit, but Jazarat is a corsair. Corsair is a type of pirate. Pirates traditionally have a bird fellow along with them.
Maybe it is something relating to Jazarat. Does FFXI lore dictate where he died or under what circumstances or if he even had a pet?
Did you try the ebon pan holy shit Cait Sith!

I'll take a group up there to do anything we can (IE - exp for fun), maybe dying up there so some silly Merrow spawns.
Actually, I had intended to replace Psilos Mantle with it, but accidentally replaced Philomath Stole, instead. But somehow it, along with Resist Paralyze, slipped my mind. lol
The bird's hungry? Someone want to run around all areas of the mire popping a cookie every few minutes?
Someone may also want to check food added in that update.
Any chance it pops during besieged, like those three orc NMs?
back during september 2006, i got that npctool (the thing that shows all the npcs in the zone and what % their health is at). If a mob is at 0%, it means it was up, but is dead atm. I ran through the whole zone, and ravin raven never showed up as a 100% or a 0%. This means it was never popped and died, and it was also never popped and despawned.Originally Posted by Thevaultdweller
Two separate guidebooks list Ravin Raven as a Vulture-type monster In Caedarva Mire with unknown pop conditions that drops nothing. The supposed Treasures Bible doesn't even list Birdman's Cape as an item, but it is printed in other Equipment Data lists in previous books with method of obtaining "unknown."
Wait... Birdman Cape... Harvey Birdman... there's a game coming out for Harvey Birdman... produced by Capcom... EGADS!
PHOENIX WRIGHT IS ALSO MADE BY CAPCOM. HE IS AN ATTORNEY, LIKE HARVEY BIRDMAN. PHOENIX IS ALSO THE NAME OF A BIRD.
The secret of the Birdman Cape does not lie in FFXI! It lies in Phoenix Wright 3 for DS!
