i'd imagine if it is a spawn on weird conditions like the lamia that pops when you die, there would be a line of text for it. this doesn't rule out a lot of things, such as dragging a raven thru the mire or something like that though, b/c zikko has no text that i know of when he decides to say OWASSUP.

I think it tells you that something has grabbed a hold of your leg, gives you gravity, and then depending on your location and luck, zikko has a chance of spawning.

Anyone ever consider this could be a Cockatrice NM too? Not that that helps in the slightest as far as getting it to appear though.

Seems kinda weird that after the amount of time that this NM has been out, no one has figured out how to pop it yet. Although, I haven't heard of many people trying to pop it really. It's a pretty good cape too. I tried a bunch of things a long time ago when it was released but didn't have any luck. It can't simply be a lottery pop off some mob, even one that people don't fight; it would be popped by now. It may have something to do with Besieged like someone said... did anyone ever figure out what those Engraved Tablets or w/e is over by Khimaira?

I know this NM was added before Khim, but was hediva isle already accessable? There are two imps near that tablet I used to solo on blu. One day I went there and only one imp would spawn the entire time I was there. I hadn't gone back again till after a maintenance and both imps were back. Could this NM be glitched like the one in Castle O?

I killed so many bhoot for it, and it never popped. Killed a ton of treat north of the cemetary, and ram/treant at the "secret" camp, and nothing ever popped.

Concerning it's name and trying to deduce anything from it, it's really almost nothing to go on. For instance, in bhaflau remnants was Zebra Zachary. For a while people wondered what it was and how to spawn it. What would imply the Zebra part of the name? Something horse like? Of which FFXI has nothing. Something with stripes, maybe a bee? Eventually it was found out, and it's just a cockatrice mob with nothing that stands out as "zebra-esque" at all. So I don't think much of anything should be counted out just because some people think it "sounds awful bird-ish". Another example, Goblin Wolfman had approximately dick to do with a full moon. Name's imply little.

ZZ is an interesting example-- I knew nothing of it and the first thing I thought when I read the name was "gotta be a cockatrice."

This sounds like a great idea to me. My friend (BRD) and I (RDM/NIN) tried this for about an hour tonight. We pulled the two Marsh Murres to the J-8 swamp on Azouph Isle, but no luck.

We wanted to keep at it longer, and may go back later. I definitely recommend taking a bard to sleep the Jnun's, even though the ones in the J-8 swamp are only DC.

...and thats only a few. Like I said before, dDouble letter name mean absolutly nothing about the species. The only indication we have from the name is that in most case, it works well with the monsters family (bubbly bernie, ambusher antlion..etc). The "z" from zacharie zebra probably come from "ziz".

Nothing special in those definitions, the name pretty much imply it's a bird. A ghost isn't impossible, but most name follow a "how it died/name" pattern". Quturb could work too if you stretch it. If the PH was a bird, people would most likely have popped it by now since many xp/skill up on it, so it has to be something different. Personally, i think it might pop like Lumber Jack in Batallia Down, on a tree. Or like the beast in SW apolyon 2nd floor. Having a raven hide on top of a tree could make some sense, and it would explain why no one popped it before (pretty sure certain tree havent been killed over 10 times since the NM was added).

Personally, i farmed the one East of nashmau a lot to attempt poping it, but no result. There is many other place with tree tho, so who knows.

After killing Marsh Murre in the J-8 swamp for 3 hours I'm gonna take a guess and say that this isn't how it's popped. I give up >> SE deffinatly added this .dat just to mess with us

I thought this too... something maybe similar to how the Rams/sheep spawn chigoes when they WS. Maybe a Treant spawns a Bird... I've yet to see this though. I would hope the way to pop this is actually something really creative. A Rose Garden situation would suck so much.

I think we would have seen it pop on 1 server if it was a Rose Garden Trigger, unless it's a completely retarded time trigger in xp camp.
