Re: Final Fantasy IV - Tokyo Game Show 2007

And yea the story especially for this game was just so ahead of its time. So much character depth it is insane. So many story twists, from the love of Rosa and Cecil to the conflict between Cecil and Kain, to the sadness of Palom and Porom being stoned. The game is amazing on so many different levels.
I don't think there was so much character depth, but back then, it was like 50 times more than any other game.

Those voiced cutscene look and sound really good. I was a little worried it would look horrible, but they did a good job it seem. I wonder how much cutscene they can squeeze on a DS cartridge, cause I doubt everything is animated like that.

The SNES localization team changed it to Edward. The fan translations of the rom left it Gilbert.

Hopefully when the localization comes around they handle the voices with the same spot-on acting they brought about for FFXII.

IV's a classic and a personal favorite since it was the first RPG I ever played through fully without help (my dad got me hooked on RPGs way back with FF1 and Dragon Warrior before I'd even gotten out of kindergarten).

Voice acting on the DS? I didn't think it was possible (since it's on cartridges and all). Looking forward to it!

Yup, and that's what made the fights in the last few dungeons so damn hard. Mobs that could basically chain cast holy to wipe you out if you didn't keep reflect up the entire time.
Yep, and with that said, I still think FFIV was the legitimately hardest FF. I am not counting II because of that dumb ass cheap leveling system. But there were areas where you would seriously get your ass kicked hard core if you were not leveled up enough.

First trip to the Moon says hello (if you didn't get like 5-10 extra levels in the Dwarf area)

The eternal revamps of the FF games proves that with a new coat of paint, oldschool JPRGs are still worth it.

Now, if they redo Chrono Trigger, heads will asplode.

I second that holy fish sticks this looks great. 2 questions I am too lazy to research:

1 - how much is a DS, a typical game, and the accessories needed to play cost?
    2 - release date?

    ds = $130
games $30-$40, SE games are almost always $40.

dont really need many accessories, if you want a case they're anywhere from $10-$30, car charger is like $10. dunno what all you'd want.

The video says the release date is 12/20. But I am not sure if that is for Japan or world wide or what.

Well seeing as how the entire video is in Japanese, i think it's safe to say it's a JP release date only. I don't think they've even touched on localization of the game yet.

Only if you ignore the other 17 versions of of the game currently in English (joke). Voice acting is a nice touch, graphics look very, very well done. Can't wait, since its one of the best FF games, imo.

My DS was more like 90$, because it was shortly after DS lite came out and Gamestop was focused on the new ones.lunar Knights and Both Phoenix Wrights had voices, although I have no way of knowing if that was voice acting or a synthesizer. It doesn't matter much in terms of memory usage.

Damnit. Why must you force me to buy a DS SE?!!! Why no console remake ;( FFIV is my favorite FF. Great music, story, characters...whatever you're looking for in an RPG.

    The trailer made me wet.

Everyone should buy a DS. Almost everybody has one anyway. There's a bunch of great games to choose from besides this.

Lunar Knights, Phoenix Wright, Revenant Wings, Kingdom Hearts stuff, Mario Kart if you like multiplayer.

If only there were another thread where people listed all the DS games they like.
