English is a hodge-podge street whore of a language, but it does have some descriptive words in it. Malice is one of those words that specifically refers something that harms or injures. How does this apply here? If I brute-forced my way into your BG forums account and didn't do squat to harm anything, it's a dickhead thing to do but falls short of actually doing damage to anything.

I never change my password. Is that really necessary? My Password is over 10 characters long, numbers and letters, and stored in POL viewer so I never type it in. Isn't the only way for someone to get access to my account to hack into POL and get my password? Or rather, what would be the point in me changing my password on a regular basis?

As long as the password is unique (has never been used anywhere else), then the only ways that I can think of would be from your computer, from SE, or the in-between. I guess you should be ok, but in general it is still good practice to change passwords regularly.

This reminds me of something from several years ago. I was having problems with connecting to a dial-up ISP while in Linux -- if I remember correctly, it had something to do with my PPP connection not working. After playing around for a bit, I enabled logging in pppd or whatever it was called, and saw that I was getting random data from other people's connections before getting disconnected; I think I remember seeing a login and an auth basic-encoded password for penthouse.com (yeah, I tried it and the password did work). Moral of the story is... umm, beats me. Data is mixed sometimes, etc.

How do you arrange it so that POL logs in automatically at startup? (PS2) I had it this way on my initial setup, but I had to reinstall at some point and couldn't get it to back to those settings. Now I have to type in my password every time I want to log in. I know it's possible because my brother's account still does it. Just wondering if I'm being dumb or if something is broken on my account.

When you get a password reset to leave it unchanged is just wow.....its not like password security is a new thing....
