Why is this assault so hard? I was doing it for the first time and everyone I was with said it was like 50x harder then when they did it a long time ago.

Bloody Rondo didn't seem nearly as hard. Can't speak for the other FLs as I haven't done any of them yet.

Has anyone done Egg Conservation recently and have a good strategy they'd be willing to share?

Done this within the last two weeks or so and it didn't seem hard. Had 4 I believe and it didn't seem hard at all, nothing ever died. Just drag the qiqirns one by one through the gaggle of apkallu.

I've done it twice... first time was WAR WAR NIN WHM. We failed because it seems like curing generates much more enmity than usual, so the WHM started to get hate a lot and was eventually beaten into submission.

Second time we added a RDM to the same group and it was pretty easy. Just be sure to engage the Qiqirn and bring them in range of the males so they help you fight. The key is to basically kill them quick enough that you don't get outnumbered. With two mages supporting us, it wasn't that difficult for each melee to solo a Qiqirn.

ToAU Ring + Sanction Refresh + Refresh equip + Refresh spell = 6mp/tic, made it pretty easy for them to keep up with Hastes, -nas, debuffs, Cures, etc.

Having a SMN for Egg Conservation is a good idea too. They can act as a supporting mage as well as distract one of the Qiqirn at a time with Carby. Just keeping the Qiqirn occupied has a lot of value, because they hit pretty hard and appear to double/triple attack too, and if a Qiqirn is beating on an avatar, it's not beating on an Apkallu or your teammates.

We wiped horribly the first time around...but the second time was a breeze.

One thing I noticed, those male apkallu got helping you, help a lot. When we wiped the first time, we were trying to fight QQ's well outside apkallu range, so the QQ's got the best of us (especially w/ the sensitive hate). I was still alive, and I started fighting whatever QQ's around the females, and I survived a good 15 minutes, just because of the extra damage from the male QQ's.

Second time around, fought all the QQ's around the males, and raped the assault.

second time, dragged the qiqirn thru the males before fighting, easy prey

I'm on FL I'm just doing the the random assaults I'm missing.

Everyone I did this assault with said they must have ninja boosted it's difficulty because they were raping face. The males would slowly kill them and the hate system on them was completely insane. They acted like Apkallu, where if you casted any spell (including stoneskin, reraise etc) you had a metric shit-ton of hate and died really fast cause they are thf and have triple attack.

We tried two times with 5 people (mnk war blm brd whm) and they killed us and the apkallu pretty fast, the odd hate system didn't seem to help either.

I remember when I did this it was really hard for that exact reason. I think we wiped first time, then tired again and just about won.
I think we let the males do most of the work for us and we were pretty thin on the ground for mages iirc.

I triple-box this assault the other day

mnk/war, mnk/war, rdm/whm

both mnks geared up, counterstance tanked, healed up after a fight, i rarely heal while engaged, if I have to, I have voke/warcry rdy to use
the thfs HP are low, abit risky at moments but it worked for me
only 2 females survived but I just wanted to complete the assault so did not matter to me

triple-boxing all 3 chars was kind of a pain, was my first time doing this assault
only bad part I wish I should have done, I did not really take advantage of the males
main key to this, make sure your healer doesn't do any big cures if they got hate, even small cures count as large amounts of hate but if you got something like provoke/warcry to bring back hate, then its okay

The first time we tried this assault we treated it like Blitzkrieg with everyone soloing or duoing qiqirn, and we wiped horribly because the rats have high accuracy and triple attack. Second time we decided to treat it more like an xp party, only fighting one qiqirn at a time. The initial attack was the hardest part since there are 2-3 qiqirn coming from each side. We just let the male apkallu and someone to cure them stall the qiqirn on the side we weren't fighting on. After that we were killing fast enough to keep up with the pops and won the assault no problem. We didn't have the males helping much since we'd run out to kill qiqirn soon after they popped when we could (widescan helps), but bear in mind this was with 6 people.

I had a kinda funny run on this assault (only did it once and will never do again ). We started out rdm brd blm war nin thf, and werent exactly sure how to go about the fighting part, so we went out to look for the qiqirns ._. So apparently we werent supposed to do that, and ended up getting killed because we were too close to where they pathed in. Everybody used RR and everything, got back up to go again, and another wipe happened because we got overwhelmed by qiqirns that kept coming.

In the end, we had only our rdm standing, and somehow the males ended up clearing all the remaining qiqirns without any cures or anything coming from us. Our rdm was resting off his weakness and we got the message that we won >.>

I did it with a pickup 6 man party and it was pretty easy about 3 weeks ago, I noticed the weird hate (paralyze could draw hate from a melee hiting allready 15% hp of the mobs lifebar) but we killed them pretty fast. Only one anpkallu lost a bit of life once.

If it got buffed must have been quite recently.

Was able to do this assault recently with only two MNK/NIN's and a White Mage. When the Qiqirin start coming about, train one towards all the male Apkallu until you have a large mob of Apkallus, they are able to take out all the Qiqirin (with your help) quite easily and quickly. You should be be able to kill them fast enough if you gather all the male apkallus to help you fight that the Qiqirin's won't overwhelm you. I wouldn't concentrate on healing the female apkallu's.

this advice is completely wrong. the absolutely worst way to attempt this assault and will no doubt end with a wipe. the male apkallu will provide most of the damage.

I believe he is saying to pull them back to the apkallu camp, to not have dead time (and get more qiqirn at the same time later).

Apkallu wont generate enmity on qiqirn (or very little), but will keep hate as long you don't help them. If you turn the mobs, it will never go back after the apkallu Best way to beat assault is to kill them 1 by 1 as fast as you can, and let apkallu tank the others if there was more than 1.

Beat it with 3-4 plenty of times, and I doubt it was changed recently. Qiqirn do hit hard, and it's pretty easy to have thing get out of control if you end up with 3-4 qiqirn, but if you play it safely, almost any group should manage to win.

Umm, we did this assault a week ago with 4 people [ WAR SAM DRG RDM ] and killed every single QQ out of range with 0 help from Apkallu whatsoever. It was stupidly easy.
