    Best Families in Pankration

    In my experience, anyway;

Mimics - The peculiar ability to give themselves nearly impregnable defenses while sacrificing none of their offense makes these things practically invincible. Their only WS being an instant Stun with a strong poison is a help too. Only real weakness is endispel.

Chigoe - Attacking faster than anything else, Chigoes can win a fight before their enemy even hits them once. Weaknesses include low HP, Phalanx, and lack of WS.

Rocs - High HP and attack, and one of the families that can play NIN well. Immune to sleep. Weak WS. NIN job tends to trigger Sneak Attacks constantly.

Wyverns - A WS for almost every occasion, coupled with fast FP growth. Weaknesses include low starting FP and the difficulty of accurately triggering the WS you want.

Weapons - Strong mages with useful feral skills. Weaknesses include general mage weaknesses like low defense and interrupts.

Apkallu - Amazing possible innates and fairly strong WS. Weaknesses include low attack and phalanx.

Rabbits - Whirl Claws is probably the single best damaging WS in Pankration, having high damage normally and occasional huge spikes. Rabbits also have fairly good stats and FP.

Ghosts - Strong spells from BLM and Ectosmash. Aside from doing a lot of damage, Ectosmash cannot be countered by running away like other WS, and seems to be magic rather than physical damage. Resistant to sleep. Cons are low HP, and general mage weaknesses.

Edit: Added Ghost, edited Roc pros/cons.

We had a whm Bee champion the other day. Worked surprizingly well as it had alot of HP and just spammed pollen/whm spells. It also had endispel which helped a ton.

Apkallus can use enspells to compensate for low attack. +50 damage per hit, twice per round is a lot.

So happy for this thread. I'm up to 450 pictures of opo-opos and none of them have a speed bonus (though it (rarely) does appear on the plate), I'm about to give up and try some other mob, I'm just trying to decide which one.

There's a few level 50ish ghosts on siren, most specifically a brown one, the regular skin, that spams ectosmash for 200-500 vs other level 50's, and 1k+ against anything below 40. hit my 36 crab with instant stoneskin and phalanx for over 1k after breaking SS. Magic Damage based move?

They also have a massive damage resistance it seems. Weakness is low HP and en-spells. Chigoe with enspell and blink always beats them. Either way the ghosts seem really strong from whenever they get ectosmash onwards

I've seen a Weapon do the same thing (spam cures on itself, that is, not use Pollen). It seems like more of a strength derived from their job than their family, and weapons have better WS.

I know, but they still need to deal with Phalanx. Doing very little damage aside from Enspells is still a weakness since it means their WS won't be particularly strong.

I've never seen a Ghost that strong; it's worth looking into if you could figure out the plates it uses.

Pit Antlions suck, no one use them!

I'm not sure we can tell what the best families are right now. I mean, we know Corse and such suck at the start, but apparently they get a lot of AP growth?

I suspect that the owner is one of the priceless members that won the JP ballista royale. Downside is none of them will talk about anything properly to anyone who can't speak japanese.

Either way, it probably has at least instant phalanx or damage resistance bonus, if not both. It's main or sub is blm, sometimes uses -ga moves. It uses ectosmash after every second melee hit, so it's probably got sam main/sub/tp regain/storetp hidden in there somewhere. I can only speculate really. That pretty much covers all the FP it could equip I think?

    Owner's name is Chimu
However most scary one is spooon's rabbit though. it has more evasion than a Lv70 mob. my Lv50 couldn't hit it once the whole fight, so does others. I had to go to sleep but I think it could go up to 500 matches without no problem.

Isn't it weird that Ghosts are unsleepable in Pankration, but sleepable outside?

they are not unsleepable in pankration. There is a BLM hound on Lakshmi that sleeps mobs then nukes them and he was putting them to sleep.

I'm sorry, practically immune. I've never seen a mob with Ensleep land a sleep on a Ghost and I've always seen it get resisted when cast on them, and figured that Pankration mobs just didn't have the stats to land it reliably. Apparently the poster above has seen it, though it's possible the caster was dramatically overleveled in comparison to the target.

Marids have some potential. If they're defensive they have Voracious trunk to absorb buffs. Pretty high HP, def, att too. Not much FP to work with though.

Plus they're cute, in a horribly ugly sort of way!

But more seriously, they are on my list. I'm working on a rabbit now, and I have an opo-opo set to level after it, but after that I'm free. I'd like to try one of the less used mobs, like a worm, marid, or a puk or something.

I wish you could level more than one mob at a time...

    Re: Best Families in Pankration

acroliths have a fucking retarded WS dmg

the detonation or dissebolvement(wth ever its called) thing does 400++ dmg to mobs of equal lvl(50) and thats with a non-perfect trait setup,we have that super mimic on our server,it gets me down to 10% before i get it to like 80 but then i usually have tp for a ws and that puts it down to 20-30% in one shot, making the fight somewhat close in the end,if i find some better initiate traits like regain id say the results would be quite overwhelming

Just saw acrolith versus wivre lvl 50, acrolith dispelled stoneskin and phalanx and was winning until granite skin, then versus a lvl 50 bunny which did 9 whirl claws and was winning until... granite skin. The instant stoneskin ate 2 hits and 1 whirl claws, granite skin ate 7 melee hits and 3 whirls claws and was STILL up when the wivre won.

The acrolith must have been unlucky on dispelling Granite Skin.

    Re: Best Families in Pankration

Unless it's different for pankration, which is possible, granite skin cannot be dispelled. Snatch morsel was modified to take buffs so there are some different things.
