Off topic slightly but if Almighty really has Enstun added effects wouldn't it be neat if Skanda Boots added a Stun added effect to Jumps? DRGs have been asking SE for stun on Jumps on feedback forums for a while since we're the only knight job (DRK/SAM/PLD/DRG) that doesn't have a Bash move(Weapon/Blade/Shield)

Maybe it lets you jump onto the boats with a cool animation and not have to pay. Think of all the Gil you could save <,<

Yesterday some BLU called me a jerk for "stealing" his Apkallu on the boat.... ~.~ Anyway, I tried to disengage so the noob can take it and the bird stayed in red. I couldn't lose aggro at all. Is this normal?

He was probably trying to learn yawn. At least you did the nice thing :D. Shoulda just invited him to your pt imo

If you are in a party and disengage, the mob won't go yellow, unless everyone disengages I believe.

Something that you may find quite astounding about the Apkallus

Myself and my friends have only seen this happen with the Apkallus on the ship route to Nashmau however its actually quite the fun little trick.

If someone in your party engages a Apkallu and starts attacking it, and you do not engage or attack and stand somewhat at a medium distance.. and cast the spell SNEAK on yourself the Apkallu goes absolutely nuts and straight after you (The person who casted sneak)

Its almost like a provoke x500. No matter what the other people fighting the Apkallu did, damage, provoke, stuns, everything--Hate could not be taken off the person that casted sneak on themselves.

Apparently.. Apkallus hate sneak. Not sure if this applies to the other penguins in the world. I'm also not sure if anyone else has heard or seen this happen.. Its been my friends and my own secret for ages (Or so we think) But it could make for a very interesting party setup. NIN/WHM tank? Hah... (Once again someone will need to check if this also applies to other penguins.

I tried to invite him, had he not been in a PT already... yet he still called me a jerk after I told him I would invite. ; ;

Odd thing is, my boyfriend's character was in party, but was below deck AFK. Would he have had to engage and disengage for it to go yellow too?

Yes, I believe so, I'm going to try this sneak theory soon, and I just had something very odd happen on the boat just now. Will post once I get to Sandy and have time to sit down before dynamis.

The apkallu hate theory is that if you cast ANY white magic spell you'll have a ton of hate.
They probably had a ton of apkallu hate, and were oblivious as to what it does/did.

It's already been stated several different times hate doesn't carry from other zones onto the boat.

All right, after about an hour of riding the boat and collecting hamsi and not seeing any Apkallu except for one on the way to Nashmau when I first began my journey. This one acted normal, only yawn. I was riding Nashmau > Whitegate (obviously) and an Apkallu popped as I threw out my fishing line. Caught 2 Hamsi. I begin to kill this one and pop about 4 silent oils to see if possibly anything happened. This one died without using any TP other than yawn. As soon as I killed the first one, I went to fish for more Hamsi. I caught 2 hamsi in one cast and when I came out of first person I saw an Apkallu standing in the middle of the ship. I begin to kill this one with a slight damage reduction and about 5 stacks of Hamsi in my inventory. I get it to about 25% and it does beak lunge on me. It uses it 2 more times before it finally dies. Ok this was a bit odd considering as this was the 3rd apkallu kill of the day. I went back to fishing and entered first person mode yet again. Catch 1 Hamsi and go back into 3rd person to find another Apkallu standing in the middle of the boat. I begin to kill this one with it only doing beak lunge and throwing me around the ship. It did beak lunge around 4 times before I got it to 20%ish. It unleashed a wing slap on me at this point which had me scratching my head. I found this strange as I haven't killed more than 10 apkallus in the past week. I tried to make it back to the ship by the Staging Point but couldn't make it before the ship set off. Rode it back with a RDM mule and didn't see an apkallu the entire trip. Now I'm in dynamis and cannot test the fact of having Hamsi in my inventory doing anything or the sneak theory. Will try later and hopefully this sparks some ideas.

do you think it was having them in your inv. or fishing a hamsi up?. Has anyone else noticed that when you catch a hamsi it spawns a apkallu? Also what bait and rod were you using?

I was using Halycon rod with sabiki rig. I think it could be more Hamsi you have in your inv the faster your hate builds. I really do not know until I can test it further sometime this week.

Odd, I tried fishing using a Haly Rod and Sabiki Rig, catching numerous Hamsi but only seeing 1 Apkallu during the whole trip.

It was just that one trip that that happened. I wasn't able to get any Apkallu to spawn the next time I went thru... Also, I had been fishing previously, reason for having 5 stacks of Hamsi on me. I fished up to 7 stacks before I had to come to dynamis. If I manage to get out of salvage afterwards I'll go back and try to repeat the process and take pics. I was going to take pics of the log but with me 2boxing it screwed up the logs and erased what had happened.

Maybe bringing more than one person to fish would increase hate gain...if there is such thing on the ship.

After I killed the first Apkallu that was up when the boat departed about 3 more apkallu's spawned in the middle of the boat. Would say about 30 seconds after the last Apkallu died another would spawn in the middle. Was not fishing or anything. Although I did bring a stack of Hamsi with me and dropped them right at the start of the ride to test one of my own theories. Rode the boat 2 more times after the one with Hamsi and the 3 Apkallus but did not bring any hamsi with me. One ride had nothing and the other had 1 Apkallu up at start and when I killed no others appeared. Hurray for solving nothing!

I'm slightly confused. Are you saying all 3 popped back to back on the same ride, after you killed the one up?

There is definitively something strange about that if it's true, because it's really rare to even see 2.
