Not really keeping up with the thread but I read something about people never seeing more then one Penguin on the ship at a time. This was awhile ago but probably after AA was put into the game.

I was just goofing off with a penguin, a second jumped on and I slept them and danced around with them. I recall a third popping right as we were dociking because I was trying to claim it and have 3 little penguins.

Like I said, didn't really follow thread well but a few ppl seemed to think it was odd seeing more then one at a time, just some SS proof that 2-3 Penguins can be aboard at same time~ I had never killed one before, so 0 hate and I really didn't do anything other then sleep them so no info.

It's odd that there could be 3 Apkallus up at once, when there's only 2 in the .dats. And on some servers, the 2nd has never even popped.

Define goofing off? Since there is a precedent for penguins reacting to actions, perhaps something you did caused it?

I was just wondering if there was a way to raise apkallu hate without killing the mobs, has anyone tried stacking up emnity and just voking the birds to see if you can raise your hate level off one mob? I have no idea if emnity is related to hate level but I'm thinking there maybe there is a way to raise it without killing them and that might be the key. For some reason I think the pop condition is hate related because it just seems unique to the mob and it doesn't make sense to me not to involve that to spawn it.

I talked to pergo about that a while ago. Not sure what he tried, but on my side, I tried spamming bind/sleep/sleep2/stun over and over on blm/rdm, and I didnt notice any change. I did it in normal blm gears (so -10enmity or something), but I supose it's still a decent amount of hate.


@Judai. Do you remember on what boat it was? Nashmau --> WG, or WG --> Nashmau?

Well, I could be mistaken about 3rd Apkallu on boat but it was awhile ago, I was pretty sure there was one popping as we docked tho.

Goofing off just as in I was sleeping them over and over, taking SSs while i /panic with them. Was bored and entertaining a friend by dancing with the penguins. <.>; I had the one slept for awhile before the second popped and them kept sleeping them again to take pics with them. Nothing weird like sneak hate and such and my friend was resting most of the time so no weird rest hate. I would have posted crazy shit like that long time ago, lol.

It was definately Nashmau>WG boat though.

Also, doesn't the plug-in thing clear out after a maint and it won't show a mob as being popped until it pops again after that maint? Not sure if I worded that correctly or clearly.

You'd think after making so many mistakes they'd at least admit it is possible and not flat out deny and ninja fix like they have done for 5+ years. Apparently Japanese are infallible unlike the rest of humanity.

Hmm.. I just double checked the .dat file to be sure. There is definitely only 2 Apkallu + AA in the dat for Nash -> Whitegate. Having 3 up at once seems very odd to me. Perhaps one of them is actually AA and there's a condition to be met to make him change into his true form o.o ?

Anywho... I'll wait and see if someone posts if 2 of those 3 birds share the same memory entry or something weird. Who knows.

i presume he means that they'd not lost the AC since the last maint and AA's memloc indicated that it had popped and depopped w/o being killed. it was mentioned above about determining if a mob has never popped, popped and depopped, or popped and been killed, but i assume you're up to speed on that as you've been following this thread from the start. ^^

ah ok, got confused lol, thought he said he saw it now...

i know it's been the focus of the last few pages, but we need to move all focus onto getting the 2nd (or 3rd??) apkallu to pop. i've personally never seen more than 1 apkallu on the board at one time, and i've held the apkallu several times for several durations. generally I see an apkallu at least every 6 rides (usually dont go more than 6 rides without seeing one).

i mentioned a few pages back that if you hold an apkallu on board until the ship completely docks in alzahbi, it is guarantee'd to be waiting for you on the next boat for at least 30 seconds (after that, it'll probably depop)... i've held the entire duration about 8 times in a row so far and he's been up and waiting everytime, due to the rarity of seeing an apkallu, i think it's safe to say this is accurate. during these 8 rides, i've not seen another apkallu pop, so the people who've seen 2+ at the same time must have something special going on. i'm really against this hamsi thing since i've captured, held, tossed hamsi before and nothing special.

Unfounded speculation time:

Perhaps the 2nd "rarer" penguin has to be held claimed for AA to link to ala Cactrot Rapido?
That or the spawn condition is for no-one to be on the boat for him to pop

Well, last night I tossed about 21 Hamsi while I was riding the boat. Nothing happened. No Apkallus appeared during the entire trip. Tried fishing and everything. An apkallu did pop on the way over to Nashmau but it only did Yawn. I cannot seem to repeat the strange occurance of the 3 Apkallus with extremely weird hate patterns.
