Well, it's only mattered insomuch as FF11 has never borrowed anything from the Tactics universe, so precedence is in favor of continuing the trend. While it's also true that FF1-10 didn't borrow anything, either, that's irrelevant in this case, since each new FF can pretty much do whatever the hell it wants. I'm only concerned with what FF11 has demonstrated so far.Originally Posted by rezn0r
I don't believe in "FF rules", so that's not an argument. The trend established so far within FF11 is that all the jobs most closely correspond to early FF games in the series. Out of the jobs that were defined in FFV, FF11 has translated many of their traits/abilities fairly faithfully. e.g. Ranger's X-Fight turning into Barrage, or Red Mage's X-Magic turning into Chainspell and Fast Cast (in addition to gaining some of Mystic Knight's abilities).
It's apparent throughout the series that there are no particular "rules" each game follows with respect to another. My entire argument on the Dancer subject was merely based on trends I've seen established within FF11. And that trend just so happens to be that FF11 jobs seem to be most similar to the FF5 representation of that job, excluding jobs that were not defined in FF5. Not all FF games are like this. Some jobs vary drastically from game to game in the series, and many later games in the series have been nothing like FFV. But FF11 in particular has, and so that's the basis of my opinion.
pops Namashu >> >Whitegate? i'll use app and see if it's ever poped before. i'll let you guys know
edit: riding the boat from Whitegate > Namashi. NPC Scanner does not reveal AA on the scanner (just confirming what most of you already knew)
edit2: appears on NPC scanner from Namashu > Whitegate. and has not poped yet even after server mantinance
i'll keep an eye out for it
I've tried this many times with no luck. Also tried it while pulling up any of the fish I could catch on the ferry.Originally Posted by Lyca

Honestly though, I've tried fishing all kind of things for over 40 ferry rides and think it's a dead end.
Following up on the whole 'fishing' aspect of this NM people have been mentioning, I tried fishing with Sliced Sardine as bait (it's made out of Hamsiiiii~), since I hadn't seen anybody suggest it. No luck, of course. Just posting to let people know it's been tried... maybe I just suck at fishing though? *shrug* Due to lack of time (and constantly fishing up Orobon) I was only able to make four trips, so it may be worthwhile for someone with more spare time to look into it.
I definitely think the rapid hate buildup is the key to this riddle, though... there's absolutely no reason SE would do something so wacky with boat apkallu's hate unless it was there for a purpose. Next time I get a day off I'll be trying a few theories I've been pumping around the ol' noggin.
I've had it run back and forth around me on widescan while I'm holding a weapon and it didn't link. >.>Originally Posted by Darwinion

Maybe SE will make a Magic Attack Bonus +20 item for BLMs that only works while petrified.
Yeah, I should have listed all the baits I've used before, so I'll do that now.Originally Posted by Kaia

Sliced cod
Sliced sardine (from sardines and from hamsis)
Peeled lobster (from gold lobster and istakoz)
Rogue rig
Sabiki rig

Minnow
Shrimp lure
I should try all the paste baits soon I guess.
I used either composite rod or halcyon rod depending on the size of fish the bait would usually catch.
that's cool, and i agree completely about FFV. sorry about coming off so bitchy in that last post, i didn't really mean it like that, it was a long blurry night. red sox' fault!Originally Posted by Khamsin
From what I can see it has popped on the boat with nobody there, which means that oviously fishing has nothing to do with it and also probably hate has nothing to do with it either. For all we know this NM is either broken or the fact it popped on the boat when nobody was there has something to do with the puzzle. I can't think of a reference off the top of my head where a NM was effected by actions in another zone and there might not be any... but doing something on the Whitegate to Nashmau really might have some effect with popping it. Mybe he is even linked to some even larger outside factor like only popping with some really random condiction like the whole Besieged thing. I know that I much rather be in besieged then taking a pointless ride from Nashmau to whitegate and im sure many other people think the same. In the end this NM is just starting to get me frustrated, i've personally ridden the boat a few times just for fun to see if I would get some insane luck of some sort and see him appear. I really want this mystery to get solved and after almost 20 pages of speculating I hope it does soon.
Where can you see that?Originally Posted by Geostigma

I can't say for sure that it has never popped while someone was riding the boat, just that from this thread and what ive read it seems like the times it has popped nobody was on the boat, of course I don't know if that can be proven or not.Originally Posted by fantasticdan
