lmao. Also, that's an unexpectedly weak mob.
I thought if you changed the name of a mob in a .dat you had to give it the same length of name? also it makes there be a massive gap after the name of the mob such as this:Originally Posted by fantasticdan

Now, if there had been a /check and an impossible to gauge, we might've fallen for it.

I could change the Apkallu to say, "Can I has cheezeburger?" if I wanted to.
I guess I can be skeptical too and say it is pretty odd that the person who posted the link just so happened to have FRAPS running just as the boat took off.
I think in a normal circumstance the video would have started after the boat had taken off.
worth noting, we can roughly tabulate the mob's HP as being in the realm of 2,100 and as a TW equivalent mob since it surrendered no XP. compare this to the HP and level of an average apkallu on the boat and it will likely match exactly. SE generally buffs NMs with HP significantly greater than would be dictated by the mob's level, so not much of this is pointing towards legitimacy.
also, consider the logical implications of the video. the player's garuda started off at below 100% HP and he made no action to try to kite it if his garuda failed to last more than a few seconds. if it were me, fighting an NM i had no clue how strong it was (and knowing the strength of the "twin" NM going north, IE Proteus) i would be taking a very defensive stance, buffing, getting out my reraise items, and aiming to survive to up my odds of winning the fight. since i may never get another chance at this, i would be packing for bear and planning for this NM to be as hard or harder than Proteus. in addition, as was stated above, he had fraps running as he started the boat ride. if i were cruising around, i wouldn't want 40 gig of boat cruising and apkallu poking on my HDD, i'd start it up when i saw him. one final logical point, consider the timing that the video was posted. remarkably close to a maint (within 24 hrs? i forget when the maint is today) which will destroy the server records of if it was ever up and killed on his server. his server which he never posted. if someone could get there on his server w/ the app to see if it's never popped/depopped/been killed. if th app says it died, that would lend a lot of credibility to an incredible story.
unfortunately, with the information provided, it's unlikely that we can prove anything, but i think it's easy to conclude that the odds are dramatically against it.
Using my random power of baseless guesses, I'd have to say the person who made that video is on the Slyph server. Also, if you notice, he does already have RR up. Not saying these two things make it real though.
Yes, unfortunately for us, Plight is on Sylph.
sorry Plight, I still love you
Birdman Cape or it didn't happen.
touche and touche. you were clearly more observant than i, though i stand by my defense that the lack of other buffs as well, not to mention an otherwise nonchalant behavior as opposed to a defensive, survival behavior indicates it's bs. still, if the servers are still up, someone who can get online can easily check if he was bsing or not. ^^Originally Posted by Luto
Yeah, good chance it's still bs. Like I said, I wasn't saying it was accurate. I just took a jab at you when I saw the chance. D:
