Meh... screw that, I have a bad habbit of forgetting to reset HP and that can be extremely bad if say Cerberus pops and I'm needed to run out there. I just camp him when I'm bored and have nothing better to do, if he pops cool if I miss him oh well. I don't ever change my HP i like it where it is.

Since as far as I can tell nobody actually gives a shit about Almighty Apkallu, but rather about "his" sexy Bard cape, has anyone considered the possibility that it actually drops with a 5% or so rate off regular ToAU mobs that nobody kills? There's more than one of two of them.

Those flies on Mount Z I'd assume have crazy TP moves or something, because I'd never seen anyone suggest fighting one.

It doesn't. SE's answer to question #3 confirms this, although some of you will disagree, I'm sure.

I'm pretty sure cross-server people have fought almost every mob at least 1k+ times, so we would have seen it by now.

Just look at the difference in stats. It's pretty much the best BRD cape in the game, finding this on a normal mob would be stupid.

Those flies come in groups of 3 so I'm pretty sure they link, not the greatest thing to try to pull/sleep/fight with bombs around too.

They put the questions and answers in there themselves. They wouldn't have placed it #3 in a series of questions about the Almight Apkallu if it didn't drop it.

But if they did, they would have responded in the same cryptic way they always do. Revealing that it doesn't drop from AA, the search is not futile, and to never give up!

Someone asked the questions in the first place, they didn't just somehow read our minds to know we wanted to find out about AA and Birdman Cape. It's not like they decided to make up totally random questions to answer themselves, and it just so happened to be about AA.

I'll be as clear as I can, because I thought it was obvious. Bolded the main part for you, too.

1) The questions "Does AA exist?", "Does Birdman Cape exist?" and "Where does the cape drop?" were asked at the Fan Festival. It's in many of the attendees write-ups.

2) The FFXI Development team were unable to answer the questions at that time, so they said they would get back to them.

3) The development confirmed the existance of both, and looked up where the cape dropped.

4) They then wrote up a response email in their own format, which they had absolute control over, and sent it out.

I'll be as clear as I can, because I thought it was obvious. Bolded the main part for you, too.

Right, so as you can see, people did ask those questions, SE didn't just make it up themselves. They paraphrased questions that were asked of them, yes, but they didn't just spontaneously decide to ask themselves a question about Birdman Cape and AA. They included the questions together because people were asking them together.

If everyone thought AA dropped Skanda Boots instead, and were asking about that at the fanfest, do you think SE would have responded differently when they compiled the answers to the questions (that they told everyone they had to go investigate first)?
