It's noteworthy that the apkallu on the ferry spawn on the deck after they flop up on deck like penguins might. There's actually an animation that shows this. Don't think there's anything similar anywhere else in the game.

anyway, rode the boat from nashmau to whitegate and didn't kill the apkallus, though I'm not sure how high my apkallu hate is so idk, nothing happened

In all seriousness, I think the cape drops from the Almighty Apkallu, and the bracers and boots are somehow related to the Zhayolm and Caedarva treasure hunts.

Ravin Raven made perfect sense for me since Marsh Murres are CORs for Pankration, and CORs get Resist Paralyze and they're birds and birdman and ._.

To be honest, those three missing items would have made perfect sense to come from the treasure hunt.

I thought that people did the wajoam/chigoe version of this quest at least somewhat often thou, so I think someone would have seen the chigoe drop something at least if this were the case. Plus it would leave nothing for almighty apkallu to drop, if he really can be spawned/killed.

The skanda boots coming from the apkallu would make sense, since they are wind based (wind and earth resist, gravity is wind), however the flame bracers really don't. Aside from the obviousness of the name, +resistance to fire and ice, -resistance to water, implies something fire based, which doesn't make any sense to drop from an apkallu really. Plus three unique non-r/ex drops off an nm like this would be kinda odd.

Was just talking to a friend. Does anyone remember those NPC Apkallu you can feed fish to, who will follow you around indefently? Maybe this has something to do with it. I mean he is "Almighty" Isn't that basically saying he's their king?

you mean the ones at mt zhayolm? pretty sure people tried trading a fuckton of fish back when apkallu were like 'wtf are these penguins', if i recall nothing really noticeable came out of it

Well, you can also do the exact same thing in Arrapoggo Reef (sp?) with some of the NPC penguins there. No one ever figured out what they were for, or why they would follow you. Sounds very possible that it could be something pertaining to that. Also, did anyone ever find out exactly how to reset Apkallu hate?

Treasure Hunt was added in April '06. However, the Zhayolm and Caedarva hunts were added in July of the same year, along with this NM, cape, boots, and maybe/maybe not the bracers. (Other stuff worth noting: This patch released the majority of ToAU's NMs, including beastman leaders, Hydra, the beastmen in the strongholds that lower their army's force, the Empire's Most Wanted (I), maybe Zillah/Big Bomb/Bloody Bones, and named NMs in Besieged. Also added the aggrolicious adult wamoura and soulflayers.)

My guess is that he only pops if you have a DNC/PUP doing sword dance in your party while a summoner has Cait Sith out between 84 and 87% Moon, coming back from nashmau of course.

Somepage has both the Northern and Southern Piranu dropping Spagyric Nails, but has anyone ever seen both of them drop? Those, the skanda boots, and the birdman cape all have similar stats, perhaps one of the Piranus actually drops skanda or cape, and then almighty apkallu drops the other? I have no reason to believe somepage could be wrong, except that they aren't always right, and I haven't ever tried to pop or kill either Piranu personally.

The piranus also drop the +parrying katanas, north drops otori, and the south drops kugui. There are enough of these across the servers I think to prove that they don't drop skanda boots or birdman cape, or someone would have one by now(I think I worded that badly but you get what I mean).

Them both dropping spagyric nails does make some sense, since they are corresponding NMs, and the resist silence + virus effect matches up exactly with orobon's 'vile belch' tp move. Each dropping a specific katana plus the boots makes more sense than one dropping katana + boots, with the other dropping just a katana.
