btw hate outside the boat is not linked to hate on the boat... i capped hate in zhayolm, rode the boat 10min later and we killed the apkallu in like 5secs

They will definitely keep the TP moves on the boat thou. Have you tried capping hate in zhayolm, warping, than going back to zhayolm? Maybe the damage resistance part resets after zoning?Originally Posted by Pergo

If you are on the ferry.. Its been a while... but doesn't only one Apkallu appear at a time (aka: there won't be more than 1 apkallu on the ferry at any given time)? So u might need to farm Apkallu's while riding the boat in hopes of getting AA to appear in their place. That's probably also while you need to get lucky and hope to have enough time left on the ferry ride if and when it pops
There are 2 Apkallu in the .dats for both directions, and I can say with certainty that there have been two up at the same time on the Al Zhabi >> Nashmau ride, seems reasonable to assume it works the same way on the other trip as well. However, when I was riding recently they never seemed to appear until the very end of the trip (last 2-3 minutes) on the Nashmau >> Al Zhabi route, if they even appeared at all. Was that bad luck for me, or have others noticed this as well?Originally Posted by Katlan

afaik its random (but when AA has a chance to pop it may be coded to have Apkallu's appear sooner).
i believe it has to be the earlier pop because theres hardly even enough time to kill the regular apkallu when its the later one.
something else that should be noted about apkallu, the zhayolm apkallu don't hate casting magic like the arrapago ones
The Apkallu seemed to appear about one out of every five boat rides from Nash>WG. These were consecutive boat rides, I didn't miss a ferry. Would set HP in Nashmau, when ferry would dock in WG, I'd D2 back to Nash to catch the next boat.
This is really starting to sound like pirates then a chance of Black/Silverhook.
If you zone in out and keep fidning fish to the same one it eventually became like permanantly attached to you literally.Originally Posted by vagus
I could like the next day go exping and the thing would run 3/4ths the zone to come to me and follow me around, I've only got up to 3 at most chasing me because I don't know what all types of fish they eat, and each prefers a different kind of fish ;/
If that was the case, someone would have posted a SS of the NM appearing. DAMN U SE. lol.Originally Posted by Indalecia
I think it is based on the same design. But i dont think that means somebody would have seen because very few ppl ever take the Nash > Whitegate ferry unless its for a specific reason (not to mention there are 2 boats, so just because u take the ferry at the correct time doesnt mean ur on the right boat)Originally Posted by Indalecia
Sounds like you're on to something. What about having max Apkallu affinity? 0 Apkallu hate and have all the Apkallu follow you when you're in their zone? Then the Almighty Apkallu isn't scared of you and comes up to say hi. I can't imagine this needing a certain level of Apkallu hate, wouldn't that just make Almighty impossible to kill anyways?Originally Posted by Gulkeeva
actually, that wouldn't surprise me that much if it required high hate, but my comments are not meant to be endorsements of the theory. there's a lamia that you have to die near to pop, thus requiring at least 1 sacrificial lamb to make it pop. this might be similar, requiring 1 sucker to die to it instantly, allow it to unclaim, then the other party kills. this assumes that when it recovers to full, unclaimed, it will reset its hate, much like wyrms lose their rage mode when they're fully recovered and just chilling (i think... it's not like that happens too much...) still, i don't buy this as the way to do it, but i think it's still theoretically plausible.Originally Posted by Yomjo
Knowing what apkallus are like when you have high hate, I'm betting the Almightiest Apkallu of them all has no reason to fear anyone with high hate. Afterall, Apkallus are the wrath of God Himself.Originally Posted by Yomjo
OK, after reading that it sounds like killing til you get max hate would incur the wrath of Almighty Apkallu and he'll gang rape your ass for killing his peeps. Make a party, kill til you have max hate, ride the ship til it pops. Make sure everyone subs /NIN and have a RDM or WHM prepared to tank this thing.
Ur theory makes it seem as if anybody/grp who meets that criteria can spawn AA, which is not the case.
