Really liked the first ep, honestly. Thank god for the god damned change from SEED. Although, I can already see a couple elements pulled from other series (besides the obvious, of course), however, it's worked out nicely I think.

Well there's never going to be a Gundam story that doesn't have elements from another. All you can hope is that they try to adapt as many new things as well as they can so it's not a repeat. Seed/Destiny had so many MSG/Zeta references it wasn't even funny. SEED was okay though.. it was nice, but Destiny after 23ish was just a waste of time and effort, and with the ending being the exact same as SEED's (minus Athrun actually keeping a Gundam instead of making it go boom) it just made it worse. Hoping 00 can be semi-decent and end the trend of horrid Gundam series though.

I remember that in ZZ. I was a sad panda to say the least. I'm glad Fukuda is gone though.. and his wife. Ergh is all I have to say.

ZZ was...well...hillarious. I'm not sure which one I like the most so far, though. 08th MS Team is probably up there on my list; but then again I'm silly =p
Really hoping 00 keeps the pace that this first episode picked up.

There was nothing wrong with 08th MS Team. It was actually my favorite sidestory.

Ep 2 "Gundam Meister" - The leaders of the world are still discussing how to deal with Celestial Being. Meanwhile, Setsuna and Gundam appear at one of the longest ongoing ethnic conflict.

Ep 3 "Changing World" - Union MS pilot, Graham Acre, confronts the Gundam and is fascinated by it. Now cautious of the Gundam, Union Force sets up an anti-Gundam special op forces which Graham is part of.

Ep 4 "Foreign Negotiation" - Feeling the threat of Gundam, Human Reform League enlists a young girl to counter them. Republic of Talivia, a South American country that was part of the Union, withdraws from the Union. While the Union is considering military option against them, Celestial Being makes a surprising move in a response to this.

Ep 5 "Breakaway Limit Zone" - Saji and Louise head to Human Reform League's Lower Oribital Station as part of study tour. Meanwhile, Allelujah is onboard a linear train returning to Space for his next mission.
