Prophets LS (Bismarck): Vrtra TP burn video.

Hello BlueGartr readers. I wanted to share this video with all of you that I made!
This is the first video I have ever edited/made/filmed myself. So sorry if it is very poor editing, songs, etc ( I used Windows movie Maker, which I now dislike)

The fight itself from engage to death was about 2minutes 42 seconds and we used no DRK with kclubs or ridills. It seemed very smooth for us, no deaths at all. I'm sure there have been other Vrtra burn videos posted here but I really liked making this so I decided to post it. I believe there were about 25 people there total.

I used the song Asthmatic by Spineshank in the video because it was suggested by a LS member and also went well with the video very well. I hope all of you enjoy this and I am looking forward to critiques on it because I wish to improve on my editing skills .

To be honest, TP burning is really mundane. Yeah its nice you didn't use KC DRKs, but meh.

But what plugin is that? The very top that shows the TP moves etc.

I know theres one with buff recasts, but yeah.

My LS has been bugging to try TP burn Vrtra but I honestly didn't know how it would go without a good number of DRKs. Did you just have BRD's lullaby the summons? And how did you do chainspells, 2 at a time over the course of 3 minutes?

Couple questions, my LS been thinking about this too.

SAM or MNK better? I see you have alot of both, just wondering for some of the ppl with both jobs like me.

I assume you had like 5-6 RDM/DRKs and did one stunner at a time?

Any reason for no KC DRKs? We have several zerg DRKs we would be using more then likely.

What did you do about summons? or did you just kill/stun so well if didn't summon/charm anything/one.

Zerg DRKs would definitely be ideal for this, I just don't think they had any at the time.

It seemed that both were pretty good.. He's very squishy.. We had a ridill war get a 1400 rampage off him and hes not even totally decked out. Also a few 2handers were getting up to 2k WS so I'm pretty sure if you have well equipped DD either ways he dies. As far as RDM goes, we had around 5 and did the 1 CS-stun at a time. We don't currently have Kraken DRKs in the linkshell.

I think the video shows that you can do it without KC DRKs. They just really speed it up

ninja edit: If you watch the fight i lullaby someone at the start, then I believe no one else was charmed. Good timing on stuns is very key to this.

Funny and all, but in reality, how much fun will it be to TP burn stuff in this game soon? Takes much fun out of big battles seriously.

Good job on the fight. I don't know why you wouldn't TP burn everything you could if you had the means necessary. Honestly if you could just get away with TP burning JoL and not waiting the 30ish mins until he stops spawning pets so his regen gets crippled you would do it. Tp burning is fun fast pace excitement for the whole family. Even if things go wrong you can revert to the Old school method of killing(which is still fun and challenging).


FFxi is constantly changing in they way things are done and what is deemed effective and efficient ways of killing things. Bahamut V2 is almost exclusively TP burn from my knowledge and what i read on this site. Yea the conventional means of killing him maybe way more fun(i am betting it is) but there is no need to do it like that when you can kill him in 30 seconds.

But this Vrtra burn has sparked some interests in my ls and we have no KC drks but we do have 3 drk's myself included that have "hundred fist scythe" and a pile of Monks Wars and Sams just itching to kill them some Vrtra. Why not kill an HNM that really no one kills(atleast on my server).

Nice. Good to see a normal TP burn setup instead of a Kraken zerg doing it. Yeah, there's no real fun in TP/Kraken burning everything, but it's more of a "Hey, let's try it and see if it works." just to say "we did it". And there's nothing wrong with that.

My video sucks compared to this. XD Unfortunetely, the second video I took of it was a lot better, but I lost it in a reformat before I could edit it up and do it nicely unlike the first which was more of an "OMG POST NOW" rush by a lot of people. =/ Windows Movie Maker does suck, but hey.. it gets stuff done.

Oh and Belkin, need a pimped out DRG for that TP Burn Vrtra? I'd love to try DRG on it and wouldn't mind joining you guys again for some Vrtra fun. >3

I disagree that TP burning everything is always fun for the whole family, as it excludes quite a bit of jobs, and believe it or not - not everyone is superkeen on leveling a rad OMGDMG job. TP burning everything in this game would be really friggin' boring. However, it can definitely be really fun sometimes, especially when you don't have any of the ubar powerful job/weapon combos (Kclub DRKs and the like), like this vid.

By fun, do you mean kiting Vrtra in a circle for an hour while SMNs P-Claw it once a lap?

If anything, TP burn enfranchises more jobs than "normal" strategies do. DRG, THF, MNK, WAR, DRK, SAM, etc all have a role in a TP burn; "normal" strategies typically preclude those jobs in exchange for BLM and sometimes SMN.

I derive enjoyment in this game just from doing things with friends and talking on Ventrilio for the most part; that said, if you can achieve the same objective more efficiently, I can't understand why you wouldn't pursue it.
