YAWN. You realize how pathetic you sound right? What kind of fan gets pleasure out of another team losing? You must be a Met fan or something. The amount of Yankee haters on this and any board is always fun to observe. When will you guys realize that Yankee fans don't care about anything you say, and only want the Yankees to continue winning?

Way to freak out over nothing, I suppose. I'm actually not a Mets fan, nor do I care if you take my comments to heart(which, you obviously are since you took the time to reply and whine like a little girl). Just like you can only want the Yanks to win, I can want them to lose. Two sides to a coin? THIS IS MADNESS!

Didn't really say anything with the intent of iliciting a response from you or anyone else feeling the need to defend their Yanks to the grave. Nothing wrong with the thought that they shouldn't make it all the way this year. If you can't handle an opposing opinion, you really shouldn't even be on a message board in the first place.

I wouldn't have a problem if you were actually rooting for someone. But no, you just want a team to lose. What kind of fan are you? I wasn't freaking out nor whining "like a little girl", just remarking on how pathetic a mentality like yours is.

I don't hate the Yankees(they're my #2 team) but being that I'm from north central Ohio I'm kinda an Indians fan first.

    That being said, go Tribe!

Because you know I'm not rooting for someone, right? This thread wasn't about an inparticular game or anything, yeah? Although, I suppose assumption is the wave of the future and all. Lord knows that baseball fans don't want other teams to lose when theirs is in the running either, right? Come on now; you can't be as dumb as this argument is in nature.

The fix was in. Someone called the clubhouse and said "Look guys, we already had a couple sweeps today. Our commercial revenue will really tank if you embarrass the Yankees again today. Also there will be far too much whining in New York...you know what those assholes are like. We just don't want to deal. Throw them a bone and let 'em win one ok?"

No Mr. Nice Guy tonight though.

Seriously, I give the Yankees credit for pulling out a tough win last night. Losing Clemens so early could have easily spelled doom but they sucked it up and played a good one. I'm from Cleveland though so I'm going to /dance when the Indians win.

    Fucking Yankees.

Coming into my living room already pissed from other shit just to sit down and see Damon hit a three run homer. It was sad, but the Red Sox swept so its ok.

I'll be happy with either team that wins. I'm a fan of both.

It's amazing to watch the media and fans hugging Joba's nuts like they are. He was a good pitcher here @ Nebraska and a home town boy at that. For those that have seen his dad's story, its hard not to root for the kid, but there has been a whole host of better pitchers here @ Nebraska.

Joba has just stepped up his game in the minors (and know the majors), unlike Shane Komine that is still stuck in AA ball I think.

86 years and one ring, apparently gives you the right to laugh at other teams chokejobs. Shame we started two AAA pitchers in April in that first series in Boston, 14.5 game lead

No matter where you go there will be Yankee haters. There will always be people to argue about anything and to pick whatever they can out of your reply to make you look like an ass. Don't worry about it. Oh, and lemme help. I'm an asshole, so there!

Now, with that said, I could honestly care less who wins this series. I just wish they'd hurry up so I can do my research on the next series and what not. I don't like the Yankees, but I don't hate them. It sucks for any team to lose. I root for the Braves and it's hard to see them struggle two years straight, but it happens. I feel bad for Joe Torre too. I think the way George handled that was rediculous, but he's the man around there, so he can do anything he wants. (That is until he croaks, and I think he's pretty sick isn't he?) I don't think firing Joe Torre though would help. He's done a great job with this team and they've had no pitching for a while. How much money did they give Clemens to get them 6 wins again? D:

I'm also sick of Chamberlain. Well, not sick of him, but sick of hearing about him. Let the kid pitch. Stop hounding him and shit because he's soooo good. If he was soooo good, he would have braved through those bugs that were bothering him in Cleveland like Carmona did.

I read in the New York Times that it was something like $1 million a start, or roughly $17.5M for the season, which is an absolutely stupid amount of money to give a 45 year old pitcher regardless of his history. Didn't come on until April, was out the past month for injuries, nearly blew the game last night from the same injury, and probably won't ever pitch again.

Yeah, it got to the point where people were figuring how much he was getting per inning, basically. They paid 17mil+ for 6 wins. You'll run into fans occassionally though that say "We didn't get him just for the wins. It was because of him that we got our spirit back!" .. bullshit. It's because of the massive pay roll. =P

I think it was stupid to offer him that much money when they knew that MLB was getting tougher on their steroids testing...whoops, did I just say that?

The payroll argument is the oldest anti-yankee argument ever used please get a freaking clue and come up with something better. Did you know that even factoring in every single Yankee expenditure, they still make more profit than any other team by a huge margin? What do you want George to do with all that money, put it in a huge vault and roll around in it like Scrooge McDuck? No, he gives the fans what they want - a team that wins more consistently than any other. If you want to cry about payroll, cry about the owners of the Tampa Bay Devil Rays or some other team that makes a lot of money and doesn't spend shit on players.

Who cares if they paid Clemens a billion dollars, he came and did what they paid him to - soak up innings. They had rookie after rookie come in and blow games before they got Clemens. It's no coincidence that after he joined the team, they were the best team in baseball and went from 14 1/2 games to 1 game back in the AL East.
Wins in baseball are a decieving stat - ERA is a much better indicator, and Clemens' was a respectable 4.50ish - you sometimes have to look at the greater effect on the team.

Again, please get a clue (and some general baseball knowledge) before coming on here and saying crap like OMG THEY TOTALLY PAID HIM LIKE A MILLION DOLLARZ PER WIN LOLZ

If you look at the math, they did. Look at his paycheck and look at the number of games he played before you call people idiots. Nobody said he specifically got paid 1M per game, just that the math worked out that way.

Since when is 4.50 a respectable ERA? I'm guessing your "greater effect on the team" would refer to the fact that he came back and gave them hope? Soaked up innings? Okay. I guess that's true. I also guess the fact that their second half schedule was full of mush along with some struggling Central teams didn't help either, huh? Meh. Why would you notice that, since I obviously have no knowledge about baseball.

So you know, I wasn't using the payroll issue to explain how shitty they can be. I don't care if they were 51-25 after the All Star Break. They're behind 2-1 to the Indians right now due to their pitching and they are down 6-1 in the bottom of the 4th right now because Wang can't get the ball down. Clemens pulled something yet again and had to leave the game early and now he's unable to play in the ALCS if they make it. Granted they won the game, but it still doesn't justify paying Clemens that much. I don't care how many innings he soaked up, he still missed games due to the fact that he's OLD. You just don't pay an old pitcher like that 17+ million dollars. The Yankees did it because they were desperate and if you say they weren't, then YOU don't know anything about baseball.

The payroll is the biggest misconception in baseball to date. Look how much the Cubs went and spent on players, yet they got swept out of the playoffs. The Braves paid a ton of money for Tex to come and play first base, yet they didn't even MAKE the playoffs. It's the fact that the players weren't performing. I know that, I'm not dense. I'm just sick of fans of different teams going head over heels to protect their team, like you are. Get off your high horse and check the game. The Yankees are overrated, overpaid, and losing. Get a grip on reality. I guess the Indians beating you 3 out of 4 will help.

Also, who said anyone needed knowledge of baseball to come ramble on and on about how money doesn't help make a team good? You're here, aren't ya? Plus this is a general forum. I'll spout my meaningless dribble, or helpful statistic points anytime I want. The only thing that matters right now is that they are losing.

Also, thanks Xavier for kinda backing me there. I didn't realize my comment would send anyone over the edge.. even a Yankee fan. :/

agreed payroll isnt the most indicitave stat. Arizona has a really low payroll this year iirc, yet look at them. Twins always have low payroll, and lately have been right in it (last few years)
