If you look at the math, they did. Look at his paycheck and look at the number of games he played before you call people idiots. Nobody said he specifically got paid 1M per game, just that the math worked out that way.

So what, you didn't specifically say it? Are we in court? You're trying to say he's overpaid at 1m/win, its a dumb statement no matter how you phrase or suggest it.

First of all, I never said he got paid 1M per win. I said the math showed he got roughly 1M per game played, and that in my opinion he wasn't producing the results normially associated with that paycheck.

4.50 ERA is about average, and respectable in anyone's book. Dunno what game you watch, but this is an offensive league and I think maybe 3 pitchers in all of baseball had an ERA under 3. So yes, I'll take 4.50.

And its my opinion that "about average" shouldn't translate into 1M per game. I'm glad you'll take 4.50, but if you're going to throw money around, I'd of used it better.

And hi, they played a long stretch of games against the Tigers, Indians, Angels and Red Sox. They won the majority of the games, and swept the Red Sox. Hardly "struggling central teams" considering the Indians look like they're going to beat my Yankees anyway.

I hope you aren't crediting Clemens with all those wins. If you are, thats incorrect, and if you aren't, thats irrelevent.

And way to make a hypocrite of yourself (again) by saying "payroll is the biggest misconception in baseball" and that the yankees are "overpaid" in the same sentence. Why does it matter what they're paid if payroll doesn't matter smartass?

Because, gasp, its possible to think that players are overpaid without thinking a payroll is the reason a team wins. Its, gasp, possible, to think a shitty player is making too much money without thinking the team is winning because they're paying a shitty player too much money.

Sorry, you're going to have to quote more than Forbes here, which looks at a very basic overview of the Yankee organization.

The games were good, but the Yankees weren't hitting that well (a mix of playing poorly combined w/ good Indian pitching) and the Indians missed a TON of opportunities to rack up runs w/ bases loaded multiple times in each game.

According to Forbes, the Marlins are the most profitable baseball team. As anyone who follows baseball operations know, teams like the Yankees and Red Sox operate at a loss thanks to things like MLB's revenue sharing.

First of all, that clearly doesn't count how much the Yankees make in sports apparel and the like. I'm sure they make more than that 250m figure in about a month. Also, they have a majority share of the YES network, which recently was valued at over 3 billion dollars. Sorry, you're going to have to quote more than Forbes here, which looks at a very basic overview of the Yankee organization.

Ok, I'll reference Baseball Prospectus' book Baseball Between the Numbers pages 174-234 which took an in-depth look at the financial side of baseball. Estimates, like those done by Forbes, are based off the revenues of the Cleveland Indians of 1998-2000, as that organization released it's financials to the SEC as part of a public offering. The eight primary sources of income for a baseball franchise which are evaluated by groups like Forbes when they come out with things like what I linked earlier are:

1) Ticket Sales
2) Local Radio and Television
3) Merchandise
4) MLB's Central Fund
5) Concessions and Catering
6) Postseason Revenue
7) Private-suite and club-seat rentals
8) Revenue Sharing

So, what flaw do you have with the Forbes finds about the Yankees? And while you're at it, come up with something to back up your opinion.
