I'm sure some of you play WoW, so you can help me.
I want to know how far I am from my target, exactly like with windower's distance plugin. Is this possible?

dont think so, why would you really need it tho? skills go from red to white as long as your within range so its easy to see max casting/shooting distance.
"cartographer" addon?
It will show u distance and locations on ur map. or r u looking for a mod that gives actual distance from mobs/pc's/npc's during game combat? But like Izembo said, I think the default UI grays out ur action bars when u r out of range. But addons such as the "CTmod" full package (aside "bottom bar" cause that sucks >.>) will also do that (but customizable)
I'm playing a Gnome Mage, spells like Fireball are never greyed out and don't get that dot thing. I've found one, will test it now.
lolAlliance gtfo
There's a mod called Distance2 that will do that. I don't know how well it works or if it's still updated though.
If you are just starting WoW... get the "CTmod" package. You wont use all the stuff but some of the things that come w/ it are great. And to better understand DoTs (which won't matter until later on as a mage), get "DoTimer" <3Originally Posted by Shuemue

I have the khaos thing installed, that has most of what I need, and the distance thing I'm using is Target Range
As for lolAlliance, Gnome was closest to taru ;P
yeah but you're going to find 85% of the server's retards on alliance. check your server forums and look at the guild progression list, see how both sides are doing. my bet is you're going to want to reroll undead mage.
that isnt so much the case anymore, see blood elves. 85% of them are retarded.
Yeah but Gnome voices are so fucking annoying.Originally Posted by Shuemue
yeah that's probably true, havent really looked at server demographics since TBC so i didnt take blood elves into account. point still stands though shuemue, check your server's progression before you roll a character you're dead set on. korgath is great for alliance, I know they have a lot of good ally guilds. but do some research
I'm stuck on a shitty EU server anyway, so I'll just play and see where I end up. I'm on a PvE currently, because I have a friend who already plays on it. I'll gradually level an undead rogue on PvP as an aside.
Reroll horde and join Nihilium!
Not always... Yes, more ppl tend to play Alliance so that ='s more retards.. And yes, Horde tend to own PvP BG's most of the time. But it REALLY depends on your server to determine progression. A lot of servers are Alliance dominant. On my server (Killrogg), 4 Alliance guilds are in BT/Hjal already and the cloest horde guild is still in TK/SSC.Originally Posted by Saga
The best way is to install a proper bar/button addon like bartender3 + cyCircled. These by default will red/grey out buttons that are out of range from your current target. It's 100x easier to detect max casting range from most mobs in WoW vs. FFXI, anyway. Getting a 'feel' for it comes quicker since on average nukes in WoW take only 3 seconds at most, vs the 7-8 second cast times on FFXI magic.Originally Posted by Shuemue
I would also stay far, far away from 'package' mods like CT until you're running late-level instances. They come with hundreds of features you won't understand/don't need and just eat memory while they do nothing for your ability to level. Install mods individually and only as you find you need them. Learning how to write macros/use keybindings early on is infinitely more valuable than hunting down mods that break every 4-6 weeks.
p.s. level as frost mage :D
edit:
'sup KilroggOn my server (Killrogg), 4 Alliance guilds are in BT/Hjal already and the cloest horde guild is still in TK/SSC.
There's a Horde Guild in BT (Temporary Insanity). They're at Reliquary. But other than them there's no other horde guild with Kael'Thas down yet. And as far as I know there's only 3 alliance guilds in BT and the 3rd only just got there this weekend. We finally have one guild with Illidan down though.

That's what I'm meant to look for regarding guild progression I guess? Looks like Alliance are a lot more successful.
As for frost mage, I'm just throwing points into whatever sounds most useful currently. I'll make my friend pay for a restat later![]()
Someone's automated all that already; No need to check the rubbish on the WoW forums:Originally Posted by Shuemue

Play on the US Earthen Ring Shue! There's like 15 or so Asura people on the server. At last check I think ER is the heaviest populated NA server, which is kind of odd since it's a lolrp server.
The top alliance guild just killed Illidan last night I believe (based off people spamming the Shield and Healy mace in trade chat), main horde guild is on the Illidari council I think.
Eh, my facts r wrong. My main point was that choosing horde/ally for progression really depends on the server. And just because a server may have horde or ally guilds that are further down the progression chain DOES NOT mean you will be the same when you hit 70 (lol). You want a server that has guilds that are decent into progression, but odds of a new player getting into a BT/Hyjal guild are extremely low.Originally Posted by Correction
Correction.. whats ur character name on Kilrogg? My name should be obvious (got same for FF and WoW)
edit: wait????? somebody killed Illidian on our server o.O?
