Salvage Armor Sets

Ok, this may sound very noobish, but I've heard something about the Salvaqge armor sets that may or may not be strictly true...

Do you need to complete all 5 armor pieces for 1 set before you can obtain completed pieces from another set?

Basically, I have chosen to get the Marduk set since my 3 main jobs can all wear it, but it may be quite hard to get some peices to complete this full set before I might be able to get pieces to complete something from another set (most likely Morrigan, since some pieces for that set seem to be pretty common drops). Will I be able to trade the 3 pieces of gear, synth, and coins to create a piece of armor from a different set if I've begun or even completed a piece or more of another set first.

simple answer, don't turn in any pieces (15/25/35) until you are ready for the final.

You can only work one piece at a time, not set.

Nice, thank you. I've only done 3 Salvage runs so far, and we were told to choose a set, as if we could only make all 5 completed pieces from the set before we even had the option to make a completed piece from another set. So if pieces from another set go free-lot that I might possibly upgrade after my first choice item is finished, I won't have to wait as long as I had feared I might.

More properly, you can only STORE pieces from one set at one time. The NPC will take any number of 15/25/35 pieces to store, as long as they're from the same set, which you choose with the chat dialog before trading any pieces. If you change which set you've chosen, you have to take back any pieces of your old set you have stored on the NPC.

Upgrades don't really change anything, but you can't change sets, store more pieces or take out stored pieces while he's working on your upgrade, because he just gives you the "Come back later, not done yet" response when you talk to him.

what you describe almost sound more like linkshell rules for what pieces you can aquire.

distilling it into simple points,
1. you can never be unable to recover a piece of gear, with the exception of if you complete a piece.
2. you can cancel your selection of what gear to collect at any time you like excluding during the final production phase. canceling of your selection will cause all currently stored components to be returned to you allowing you to store from another set.
3. completion of a piece does not permanently lock your selection. if i should have 25 hands, as well as 15/25/35 body (picking numbers at random here) and i elect to complete the body (read, i spent 2.5 months in mt. z. to mine enough khroma) after i am given my body piece, i can elect to change sets and have my hands returned at any time i care.
the above poster is completely correct in their assertions, my only goal was to split the points into the primary rumors/myths/etc. that i've heard.
