what is NIN/DRK

Almost all HNMs, and they sub it for better hate than /war.

Any they plan on tanking. Because it offers far more hate than Provoke.

Not only do a few of them garner more hate, but you gain the ability to spam them at at least 3x the frequency.

Stun gains the same hate as voke if not more, and is on a lower recast (since a NIN/DRK will be wearing haste). In addition, it actually helps you tank. Voke doesn't do anything to the mob. Stun... well... stuns it. Basically, stun has every benefit that voke does, plus an extra, very useful benefit as well, and can be cast more often.

Bind and sleep are the kind of hate that builds up noticeably over time and doesn't wear off fast.

Soul Eater and Last Resort are really good hate spikes.

so then why are NIN/DRK so rare in EXP groups?

You need constant refresh with DRK sub, and /DRK doesnt do as much for your damage as /WAR would.

In a EXP party you hold hate mostly with your DoT, however you dont tank a HNM with DoT alone.

Because /drk isnt really effective as a sub for ninja until 74 (when you access stun from sub) and by that point ninjas aren't realy more than a pseudo tank/extra DD and /war offers more in the way of DD capabilities.

Is not like you can just /DRK by having it at 37 though, you need to build the party (the tank party for the NM fight) around it

-get a Redmage
-the NIN has to get some haste gear (well they already should have most haste pieces for DDing anyway)

None?

pretty much everything a nin/drk can tank, a pld/nin can tank fine too.

there's some stuff I probably wouldn't use a nin/drk on though, if you're thinking of switching over to them full time. (mostly anything that builds stun resistance)

/drk is for fights that are straight tanked and do last longer than 5 mins.

/DRK for: Faf/Nid, Khim, Tiamat, Ouryu, Cerberus, Aspi

/WAR for: Behemoth/KB, Kited Jailers, Ada, KA

As far as casting there is a cycle I usually run through which is Stun > Bind > 2/3 Ninjistu debuffs > Sleep (on a non-slept mob/sleep resist mob).

There is some dude on my server who subs /drk and spams poison so hopefully you'll read what I wrote and won't be like that guy...

That and as a NIN/DRK you can spike hate with souleater and have the PLD/NIN cure bomb you for his personal hate.

i quit for 2 years, back when i was in the end game, everyone just used PLD/WAR

Nin/Drk is not entirely a good idea on anything that builds stun resistance and has moves you need to stun. On almost anything else /Drk is the best bet for a Nin just because of the amazing hate output.

No. Anything you use Nin/Drk on Pld/Nin is just as good.
