What do you guys think about the Brock Lesnar signing??

Despite being a very large person, he'll get owned his first few fights (recent example: Couture/Silva anyone?).

I think he will do ok. As long as he starts off against low-mid tier UFC Fighters and isn't fed to to the wolves to make him look bad. His size and world class amateur wrestling background will obviously work to his advantage. Dana White let us all know Brock's first fight will probably be in February. That gives him a decent amount of time to get his shit together.

He seems like a humble guy after reading through some of his interviews. I think that will work to his advantage as well. As long as he doesn't underestimate the Calibre of UFC Fighters he should do great.

Nothing is a guarantee in this sport though haha.

Brock had to drop to maek heavyweights 265 cap, so don't expect the lighter heavy weights to man handle him. Vera might be 10x more skilled then Sylvia, but stregth won him that fight, and Brock will be able to over power a lot of HWs fighters.

Brock Lesnar is basically an over sized version of Sean Sherk. He's just going to out muscle the hell out of each and every fighter. I think he's going to do extremely well in the UFC.

On a different note, I'm looking more forwards to the Ultimate Fighter finally (Huerta vs. Guida) than UFC 78 by a long shot. Bisping vs. Evans is a terrible, terrible main card, and what's even more frustrating is, the winner gets a title shot (or so I read).

The Bisping vs Evans fight is pretty pathetic, both of their last fights were not convincing in the least to make it a #1 contender fight considering the LHW division is full of possible contenders. Maybe they want to protect rampage for a while since he is pretty much the most marketable fighter atm.

I'm looking forward to Houston's next fight, he is fighting more often than anyone else it seems. Quick KO's where he takes little dmg, and exiting fights makes him near a title shot if he wins 1 or 2 more times, although one of them should be against someone else on a roll like him. He probably has a very weak ground game so it will be tough for him to beat someone on the ground unless his shiny head reflects the light into his opponents eyes.

I think Brock will be a very good fighter, he has been training for 2 years on MMA so he shouldn't be completely lost on the ground. Someone that size will have some vicious GNP if he knows how to throw a proper punch, and being an excellent wrestler will make him hard to take down. If he has a granite chin he will be very very dangerous with more experience.

ufc 78 main event may be so-so but the rest of the fights seem to be very good. It includes some of my favorites: Karo Parisyan, Spencer Fisher, and Joe Lauzon. Also as mentioned Houston Alexander who is fast becoming a favorite. 79 will be an awesome main event, would also be awesome if they would decide on Liddell v. Silva, they keep bouncing back and forth sometimes its on sometimes not.

Wow, I'm glad to finally hear the Silva fight got a date set. As much as I like Chuck, I think he's going to lose again... especially if he tries to pull another Jardine fight and just try to land the one big right hand... that's not going to work on Silva at all.

I think Wand will take this fight pretty easily unless chuck somehow uses the Cage to make Wand feel out of place and takes advantage of his 'cage rust'. UFC 79 looks to have two huge fights now, but I thought I remember one of the other fights having someone more well known in it. Are both Karo and Houston fighting in 78?

karo and houston are having their fights on 78. 79 is kinda a big deal, serra v. hughes. The rest of the card hasn't been all finished but melvin guillard is fighting too.

Thiago Silva from Chute box if I'm not mistaken, so he's in for a test.

he is from chute box has great ground skills as well as striking, but they will both be in for a test. Houston will be going up against a better more well rounded opponent than previous matchups and would be in danger if it hit the mat. Silva is equally in danger as this will be his first true test in the octagon as well. His first match was @ 71 but ended in the first minute due to injury of the other fighter, his second match was against an unknown newcomer @ 75 iirc. will be a good fight.

I think a while ago the lightweight title was supposed to be up for grabs at 79 with BJ vs sherk or someone else if he loses the appeal, but I guess that title was moved to a later card.

79 is including Chuck vs Wand now, funny that the icon the UFC has for 79 shows Chuck and Wand, not the main event Serra and Hughes. They have to save lightweight to allow whoever will fight for it time enough to train, and to know who that is they need the results from Sherks appeal. I'd love to see a lightweight tournament for an event, throw in Penn, Stevenson, Huerta, Griffin, Guida, Fisher, and whoever else you like, that'd be a good event.

Well they have made the announcement on UFC site, signed them both to the fight and put them on the banner. Only way I see this not happening is by injury to either during training.
