Or you can let the SAMs melee and WS more (SA and TA) and just cure them instead of yourself.

It's a novel idea, but it works.

But that makes the fight look worse Nothing like a smooth fight with minimum deaths and tanks not losing hate.

Or you look totally badass when you force takeoffs and still have pretty minimal death/hate problems.

    Plus it's way fun.

Sure, but you don't need it. It's easy enough to cure swap your way back to the hate cap in a matter of seconds and preserve the damage output from the samurai.
You're not preserving a thing if you're only having them WS every minute based on SA timer, any sam can easily drop 4 weapon skills per landing, 2 with SA and 2 with TA and generate both much higher damage and strong hate spiking.

Point well seen. I think TP'ing of some HNM is ok when you are prepared for it, and I don't think two PLD tanks can keep a lot of melee alive when Khimaira is spamming Thunderstrike and Dreadstorm. I prefer a mix is SAM and BLU on Khimaira myself.

I've been away for a few weeks, but I find it sad and hard to believe that some people still don't know how good double march is for PLD.

I usually just had 1 BRD in tank party and perferred double march for just about everything (as long as the BRD is smart enough to throw in a ballad II if MP starts getting low). Especially for fights like Aspid. Having flash on a 22 second timer greatly reduces any chance of hate loss. Its also great for fast hitting ToAU HNMs too. Provided you know how to count shadows and get Ichi up without getting hit.

if i can get a cor in tank pt then i take evokers/magus and double march, but if its only one brd then i pretty much always prefer march/ballad, and just put on more than 15% haste in gear

As long as melees are smart about it its ok. If a SAM thinks its a good idea to SA+WS at the very start of a battle, I'll usually let them die before trying to regain hate. If a mob starts spamming TP moves and people are taking a fair bit of damage then they should just lay off for a few minutes. Although its not quite as important if you have loads of members at one camp, I find its better to get into the habit of this anyway.

Last time I fought Khimaira it kept using Tourbillion whenever a melee went in to TA+WS. It was quite funny and kept melee hate reduced enough. I think we mainly use SAM, THF and BLU on Khimaira (and maybe add a DRK at 35% for extra stun). Our melees are usually encouraged to sub SAM when they can to keep damage constant without giving too much TP. Again, this is only really important for low manning Khimaira and some other HNMs.

Sounds more fun than my server... where RDM/NIN tanks everything unless you have an Aegis, you can't join any decent all-around endgame LS unless you're a taru with at least 1 mage job, and the only thing you take to most mobs and camps are people with the word 'mage' in their job [and BRDs]. Oh, and of course the token mithra THF.

I have no idea how they don't get bored of BLMing everything on the planet to death. Melee jobs are literally worthless and meaningless to them, no matter what the situation (except merit PTs). The NA LSes are better and do use some melee, I admit... but wow the JPNs and mixed-language LSes are so strict about this.

...This is only a slight exaggeration.

Heh, we had the opposite of that with a certain member in my LS. BLM turned melee and refusing to come BLM. ;p

Usually we have a fairly good mix of jobs. For things like KSNM99 Wyrm and Ouryu we have an alliance of mostly BLMs whereas for Khimaira we have a lot fewer BLMs. It helps that most people have several jobs at 75 so can be useful for most situations.

As for RDM tanking.. I don't think its really caught on here (thankfully). Although I have RDM at 75, I don't think I'd like the idea of using it to tank. I also can't be arsed buying tanking gear for it. My PLD gear is pretty decent and I love the job too much to start using another for tanking. I don't even like coming as other jobs to events when I have to...

    Re: Paladins..

I have been WHM75 for a little over 2.5 years, and i have never been a big fan of regen on tanks at HNMs, in a merit party or what not, sure, but not HNMs. It just never seems to be worth it, the mob doesn't slow down to 25hp/tic(or whatever your regen is with merits and what not) worth of dmg, so why should my healing be that, and if a tank is going down, that same regen is not going to save them, quick acting on cures will, So why waste my 64mp on regen3 when its not going to save the tank from getting cheap shotted, take longer to cast than a cure, and longer to work?
