At 95 with ebisu I fished some ryugu's today for a change of pace from lik's and while they deplete fast as the above poster said, the rod still whips around like a god damn weed whacker. Got 2 without albatross but they were close so i burned ring after that for them

So is ryugu a bigger bitch to fish up than Liks and Gugs? Or around the same? I'm just trying to get a good feel for what to expect with the legendary fish not only for ebisu but for fun / profit / gp / penguin ring.

I was out fishing Titanicus and they are incredibly lol to bring in even at 57, tho the bite rate was god awful. Friend asked me to get him some for Gavial armor so I was able to get 4-5 in a few hours of alternating those and Marlins and wound up with a Ryugu.

OK so, decided to ask a GM about coral fragments and find out if there is in fact still a way to reel in em.

I of course just assumed I'd get told "yeah we gimped it kthxbye"

Instead I got some really cryptic answers about it, and alluding to the fact that it may be possible under certain conditions to reel these fragments in.

At the points when I was told to hold, the GM dissapeared for about a minute or so.

So here's what I wanna know, is this just a simple case of, they're not allowed to discuss update notes with us and we gotta look for em on our own, or is there something they're holding back for us to find out?

Or was the GM bored and just fucking with me?

What I'm getting is that somewhere on some random pol community site, of the hundred or so, in some post, somewhere, someone has possibly discovered the key to catching these, and the GM is telling me go look for it, or:

They might just be telling me to go to otherwiki and look at update notes and see what they did, who knows. BRB gonna try and find the exact wording of the update...

lol, Tricorn is the rank fish for this contest on Odin. Guess I'll set apron back 2 weeks, get frog fishing and try to make a profit/do some skilling off them.

edit: im going out now with lufaise flies. Has anyone tried lures or have any general tips/info for me? Can't find much about their size range

Saying they hope you catch more soon is just another way of saying "Good luck." I can see how adding a ::wink:: to that statement could be taken as something *more*, but otherwise it just looks like they were being polite.

As for the "something might cause this" statement, probably just referring to fishing fatigue, or staying in a zone for a long period of time having an affect on bite rates of fish/items, or moon phase/weather/season.

I'm going to try to bazaar some for 100k each, if people pay it cool, if not oh well, I should have just not bothered I didn't realize how small of a window the bite rate was and what a pain in the ass it is to get to the window.

Yea, don't read anything into what that GM said - they cannot tell you ANYTHING about game mechanics, pop conditions, etc. Looks like he was just being polite and wishing you "good luck".

As far as coral fragments are concerned: was fishing in Den of Rancor near Cloister of Tides while waiting on group to get there - first cast, Coral Fragment. Next 20 casts or so, nothing but rusty stuff. They still exist, obviously they are obtainable somewhere in mass, since people are still selling stacks and stacks of them on a regular basis.

I fished up 2 Coral Fragments while fishing at the pond with the overpass (where the fish botters used to fish) in SSG a few weeks ago when Grimmonite was the fishing contest fish. I was fishing on the side of the pond (looking at the overpass not under). I was there for a few days for a few hours each time, but was only able to catch Coral Fragments on one of those days. I should have noted the day/weather/moon phase.

Really? wow, thats not bad, I spend about an hour in SSG and only got a bunch of items, no fragments...

LoO is pretty much gone, nada, zip. Have not tried the hard to get to pond in den, just the one connected to yhoat with the two scorpions.

I'll try that spot and if I get fragments I'll post.

Personally, I think SE should've instead of all out gimping fragments in that pond with overpass in SSg, they should've made it so the fragments are only hookable on the overpass itself.

The sahigan up there aggro 75s and the only way there is to do the shell quest to open door. One could easily see a trio of 75 fishermen walking and killing three monsters on the bridge in a group, then fishing together and splitting the profits.

Its one thing to sneak fish what your catching, but when the entire bridge is patrolled by these monsters, sneak only lasts long enough for like 2 casts. You'd spend more time running off edge of bridge to recast and it just wouldn't make it worth it.

Or at least guarantee your not a bot haha

Tried a gug today out of curiosity. 95 skill + gear/furniture/support with albatross but NOT penguins...didn't have a chance, couldn't really get it past 50% before I ran out of time. Damn marlins!

So I only land 5 Liks.....figure what the hell, go trade them in.
