Did you do a bunch of prequests for it?
Did you do a bunch of prequests for it?
Well, finally a 10th post and here's the picture I promised.

welcome to the club
Congrats Indy/Enterprise. I actually saw you running to Rabao the other day to fix it Indy lol Your bazaar comment at the time said 0/3-0-something.
Do either of you fancy selling me your Lu rod? The price just jumped up a lil on the server, I was hoping maybe either of you would be willing to part with your Lu rod to me for say 3.2 mil?
{question}
Am I the only one who feels like the only non-bot fisherman on their server? Fishing nebs in SSG, and I get to spend maybe 1-2 hours a day doing it. OK gil, pays for my consumables, but am I to really believe that the 5-6 people I see down there who seem to sell 15+ stacks of nebs every single day, and have 100% accuracy on only nebs (mine is OK, but still with the randomness of stamina depletion you're bound to get an item or two....unless you're botting). Or is everyone else botting and I'm just the odd man out?

Hades
many people still bots. and most of them bots nebi or moat carps
not surprised really
im more surprised to see someone botting gugs in ifrit tbh...
dont ask me who, dont ask me how lol because i am not 100% sure before i can report him, and he sells me the gugs i got for both saber shoot......... so yea, im stuck in the middle: to keep it secret, or report him ._.
anyway i cannot confirm and be sure, so i prolly leave it as it is for now
Can someone explain to me what to do / how FPS helps with fishing? I am 100+ all key items/gear and Ebisu rod and I can't for the life of me bring in Liks/Gugu without have both rings yet I know some people can pull them in with just the albatross ring. Seeing that I made well over 6m in fish this past week learning how to bring them in with 1 ring would save me the time of fishing marlins which tempts me with those damn pirate charts (0/43 for MK drop). Every time I try to use just the 1 ring I run out time. I think I went 1/57 lik and 1/79 gugru but I fished all mine up and never bought. Those of you that had to turn in over 500, I don't know how you did it bc it was so hard to fight the urge to sell the fish!
I was thinking of holding both charts and storing like 30 marlins.. 100 seems like a lot seeing I usually go 1/3 for pirates and 1/11 for brigand. One time I went with someone who had a brigand chart like myself and I had a friend on standby to hold their puffer... what you know the person didn't fish up a mob but some how managed to time out after the 4 chest... of coarse when I went right after I pulled puffer up on first bite.
Bot Fishing would seem to big of a risk to me. You 1st have the same delay you fish. Follow up with rarely losing any fish. Next we move onto people pass by you all the time. After all that GMs sometimes have nothing better to do then screw with fishers i think lol.
If you got this far into fishing just spend your 2-4hrs a day and make your gil.
edit: lik you should be fine with tbh, they really are not hard. Much like slower titans with a tad more HP. Gugs on the other hand what lower FPS does is make the mistakes you make mean less. at around 16-19 FPS hitting the wrong arrow wont blow your head off and make it go to 100% hp again.
I'm sorry, that I promised someone a Lu rod when I got Ebisu rod.Congrats Indy/Enterprise. I actually saw you running to Rabao the other day to fix it Indy lol Your bazaar comment at the time said 0/3-0-something.

BTW I'm 1/86 on Saber Shoot 2 years ago, and I'm around 1/300 (I stop count at 250th and gave up 3 times on Lik). I lost record of moon/time on Saber Shoot and didn't pay attention to Opal Silk, but remember got both of those on Lightsday.
It seems a majority of the people I speak to who have ebisu and reel in Gugrus with albatross ring only are PS2 players. It's a sad fact for those who play on decent PCs today, but PC players do have the disadvantage. I've only just had one fishing session with Gugrus using both penguin and albatross rings (and Lu shangs...don't have ebisu yet), but I'm barely able to reel them in each time with that setup, along with having overwhelming moglification, +4 skill, apron, adv. support, etc. I fully expect to still need my penguin rings when I get ebisu to reel in each of my bites.
I haven't seriously tried fishing gugrus without having low FPS, but from others' reports, either having your FPS set between 14-16, or 16-18 (my comp. setup allows for the latter), allows you to reel them in easier. Some report the rod swings less often, drains faster, less regen from mistakes, etc. I'm not sure which is true, but since I'm reeling them in (just barely...I nearly always get the time warning message), I'm not going to complain too much.
You can run a bunch of crap programs to lower your FPS, or run FFXI on a "meh" computer or laptop, but a program many people are using nowadays is CPUKiller (google it, should pop right up. User cdgreg said you could PM him for the program and crack, but I believe that you can also find it the program/crack on the titanictus.com forums).
http://www.bluegartr.com/forum/49347...ml#post2827724 Useful post on the subject, though as far as this post mentions, it was only tested on Lik. I'm not sure if anyone else who uses CPUkiller switched the algorithm to "greedy," or if it's just Cdgreg. Both might work just as fine, but the default algorithm is apparently a bit more choppy. But whatever works.
On a final note concerning the program, it's kind of a gray area as to whether it can be considered "cheating" or not. It's kind of silly that PS2/crappy PC players would have an advantage with fishing, and all CPUkiller does is simulate having a crappy computer. My opinion on the matter is that I understand why others use it, and don't consider it cheating. But due to SE's recent bannings, and their interpretation of 3rd party programs, I don't use it myself.
May as well open the topic for discussion: How do other fishermen feel about PC players using CPUkiller? Is it cheating, or is it a "necessary" program for PC players to fish on an even playing field. (Interestingly, in 2005/2006, SE released a couple updates that addressed PC players having a more difficult time with fishing compared to PS2 players, but they have yet to release another update that addresses current, faster hardware standards.)

As for the brigand's chart quest, I would still recommend getting one or two other people to help ya out, and provide a brigand's chart for each of them and yourself. After having these 2-3 charts ready, fish up an extra 100+ fish minimum. It's takes a bit of time to prepare, and might be overkill, but since you are "burning" one chart just to fish up a mob, it's a good idea to make the most of holding that mob and use as many charts as possible with it fished up.
As a note, when I went with myself and two other people with brig charts this last time, the first person to use a chart didn't fish up a mob (no ring, only fished up 4 chests. even without a mob, the 5th chest is pretty hard to get to). I had them run back with me to Selbina to get them another chart, and had them give it another shot, this time fishing up the mob. After that, I had the other person use their brig chart, I used mine, and then I kept going back to Selbina to get more charts. Ended up getting five rings in a row on those last 5 charts.
Dumb question in regards to NPCing fish:
Why do some vendors pay more for fish, and why do some vendors not accept certain types of fish at all and other times they accept them all.
Little tip on Brigand's chart, don't use your Ebisu/Lu's, I always grab a cheap willow rod in bastok mines before OPing to bubu. (I'm not sure if this really helps, since I haven't done this event with a Lu's in forever, so I can't really compare, but I believe it helps)
With a little practice, it's pretty easy to get all 5, but you can still get screwed if they take too long to bite or keep moving when you're trying to bring them up.
My last brigand's, I got 5 chests, no pugils, ring on 5th with I think like 1-2 seconds left lol
I was actually told by a GM that if I put weaker hardware in my computer in order to decrease the FPS of ffxi that is considered breaking the ToS, buying a ps2 is not. Retards(SE), cpugrabber/cpukiller is just saving you from buying a crappy pc off ebay or a ps2.
If you feel bad about it, just match the ease of which you can fish on pc with ps2. I think you can make pc easier than ps2 I hear so you can probably equalize them somehow.
I've never heard about making it EASIER than PS2, though I suppose it might be possible.
If it is possible, I would consider using CPUkiller to allow fishing to work more efficiently than a PS2 as crossing the line. I would regard the use of a CPUkiller ethical (but still against ToS, and thus, illegal) only to the degree that it equalizes the ease of reeling in fish to the easiest level achieved by standard hardware (in this case, PS2).
However, it's not that simple. If you just so happen to have a computer that is "meh" enough to give you BETTER results than the PS2, it complicates things. I was only operating off of the assumption that the PS2 was the easiest system to fish on; I didn't consider PCs that might do a better job of it...
As for replacing hardware to slow your computer down being against ToS...I'm not sure what to say about that.
What level is your fishing skill? 70+ you can reel in Nebs with 1 swing of the rod, sometimes 2. Which means they are going after skill ups from Grimm(Lv.90) and Breams(Lv.86). But hey, if they don't have a Lu rod then I'd agree with you about them being bots
Also, rusties? I know when I have a rusty on the line and you can cancel it w/o wasting your time (can line break your shrimp lure and halt your fishing if that happens)
