Good guide! I might try Nashmau Istridye's Sunday, as my Jeuno mule is currently backlogged with Tuna, Nobles Ladys, Nebominites, and Blinding Potions waiting to all sell.
I've done that ring multiple times on ebisu with no problems. Even catching 1 fish (with someone to take it) and being successful. Its very close, what you say may be true, just saying its not all that hard to do it with ebisu or lushangs for that matter. Just don't use a bait normal fish hook on tbh.
I'm curious why you said using penguin ring was a bad idea? Does the game prevent you from doing it now or something?
using penguin cuts off 3-4 sec and it may be vital for this 3 min event ;O
i used lushang and have 50% chance of opening 5th
reeling in at 10% is the key +_+ but it sucks when you hit "lack of skill" bullshit ._.
I was wondering. I've been looking at Wiki and it says you can fish up Moat/Forest carps with a Robber Rig. Is it better to get one of those off the AH and skill up to 20-ish on them while working on the Lu Shangs myself? Or should I stick with Insect Paste? I just wanna have the most free space possible without having to get my LSmates to craft anything for me.
Robber rig is crap for real fish... it "can" catch them but at a horrible horrible rate so for you own sanity stick to insect paste.
Like the last poster put, it would be more worth it paying for half the cost of a rogue rig to pay for the cost of the materials of a stack of insect paste (or simply buying it off the AH) than to use a rig.
It would be impossibly slow.![]()
It's a dumb idea because reeling in the chest/pugil takes like 2 seconds AT MOST (use willow+slow down fps), the time wasted using penguin ring wont help you.
Most of the wasted time in this event comes from sitting there, waiting for something to hook, and that bit of time inbetween casts where you open the chests.
I see, that makes sense then.
Mayhaps though I'll try using ebisu for strongest thread level and try reeling in the fish at 100% hp, see how the line snap rate is. I know on moat carps when testing new ebisu stats I found I could get away with reeling them in at 100% hp, just sit and hit enter as soon as music starts.
Any idea how strong of a gavial fish you need to get a pelican ring?
I have one that is 5 below length and 5 below weight that is listed on evilwiki, no chance or 100%?
Random question, but tonight I started with a completely empty inventory and fished to cap. I ended up with 197 fish and 6 rusty subligars. Do rusty items only count .5 towards the cap or is the cap occasionally not exactly 200? (I use Lu's)
really, kudos. I perma'd this and will get back to it when I find some time in btwn my event whoring. Fishing is always the one thing on my mind that I want to get back to and I thank you for this very succinct guide. I know there are other guides out there but I like that there are various paths to get to 100+ebisu. Thanks again!
Thanks for the appreciation, I had plenty of time while I was fishing and wanted to not only plan my own path, but help out my LSmates. At this point there are 4 ebisu's in my end-game LS with 100 fishing and about 4 more members working towards that goal. Imo fishing is by far the best craft in the game, it's a steady gil income that you can easily just make from npc'ing.
Well I believe I've officially found the worst GP fish today on Odin
