I have yet to break a line, or fail to pull in a Neb, even at lvl 0.whatever. I've just been cutting my line whenever I get a "!!!" fish, to save myself a monster. I'm just worried by the low bite rate most times, or does that improve with skill as well?

Also, the guide mentioned SSG as an alternate place to fish Nebs. Is that any better?

My experience is that bite rate seems to improve with skill, but I'm completely eyeballing it. I have not yet fished in SSG, so I can't comment on that. I do occasionally break lines on the ferry on ! fish with completely depleted stamina bars, but that might be because I am not using a Lu. I maybe lose something like 1/50 of my target fish, but its usually a combination of the rod moving more than normal, and me not really paying attention. Occasionally I get a Bluetail that decides to be a prick.

No fishing expert here, but I've been fishing on the ferry for the past several days. The bite rate definitely has increased with my skill, though. I'd probably just ride out Moat Carps to cap personally, then hop back on the boat. No experience with SSG myself, the boat is much more relaxing for me to fish so I didn't bother trying there.

Hey Sanoske, I picked up fishing again after reading that guide myself. I left off at 14 after Moats and Cheval Salmon in Ghelsba, I don't recommend the Salmon though. Yesterday I picked up the gear, Halcyon rod/Shrimp lure and went to SSG.

It was a full moon and I went from 14-17, fished 11 stacks of Nebs but must've fatigued from random breams/kelp/1g/etc. The problem was I eventually lost the lures, probably breams/grimms...

Today I went to the ferries with loads of crayfish balls and hit a .1 on the first cast, then 18 on the next trip. Every ! catch has been a neb so far, aside two that stole my bait. It's a lot better than SSG so far. In SSG I kept hitting Norg shells/Damp scrolls and generally other fish I don't want to waste time on.

I have the gil to buy a Lu right now but they're 3.5m and that's among the highest of all servers, I'll keep up with nebs till it goes down.

Good news with Lu is its value doesn't seem to be going anywhere anytime soon. It appears to me that more people are becoming interested in fishing and less people are questing it. More demand without matching supply and the price should rise! I made 200k between purchasing it and selling it after finishing ebisu

I did nebs in SSG 0-27 and both bite rate and skillup rate improved well into the teens. Seems like 0-10 took foreeeeeeever but once i made it to 15 or so it was great. The occasional Coral Fragment was a nice bonus for my bonecraft mule.

It's obviously different than what I said in our PM's, but if starting nebs at 11 vs 0 makes so much of a difference go "zerg" 10 levels on moats, that should be pretty darn quick skill up wise. What's the best for moats, Knightswell and Insect paste?

My fiancee started fishing Nebs at 12 I think and it made all the difference in the world. Before 10 it seems to be too painful to be worthwhile.

I usually grab about 12-15 minnows and then fish until they are gone. I think generally I'm in the 30 lik range. I'd hit shitty streaks of 3-4 breaks in a row, but then fish up like 7 without a break. If I had to guesstimate I'd say 2 fish to 1 break?

I've realized that without at least a WW mule on /follow I would be doomed to buying all potential Ebisu fish once I get to that stage. Having to warp out to Altepa every rod break while fishing those would be so insane. I know that even I do not have that level of patience (or the money to keep repairing the damn rod) to make that cost effective over just breaking down and buying the fish.

I had a mule on the same acct that I lvl'd WW purely for fixing Lu's since I didn't want to dlvl my Bone100 on main. Lvl'ing WW to 69 to fix rod isn't that expensive. Still a pain setting HP in Tav to deliver, change char, fix, mule back.

What is the minimum level you can recieve a chart from Zaldon at? Has anyone recieved one at 28 / low 30's? The way he talks after you open the Inside the Belly quest, suggesting fish you bring, only refers to fish that are best suited for your level range and I know someone whos skill on Marlins/Calamary on the boat since 28 and has yet to recieve a chart for their Marlin catching efforts.

Did anyone else notice at some point in time Zaldon's text changed? Up until very recently he has only mentioned to me 4-5 low level fsh, gugra tuna, greedie, zaflmlug, etc, and just recently he now names off every fish he accepts.

As for lowest level, I got my first chart at level 28 exactly, since I had saved up a bunch of marlins for the moment I dinged into the quest. Did the quest pronto and traded em all in.

There are people who have gotten a or both ebisu mats in the 30s-40s.
