So i just dinged 78 and have been working on guild points when it's not ridiculous (hi to you Phaneut Newts) but i was wondering what is suggested I spend my gp on first, Serpent Rumors or Apron? I was planning Apron but i didn't anticipate getting to 78 so fast (<3 Nashmu and Talaca)

I would assume if you are planning on attempting to fish Liks/Gugs in the very near future, or planning on starting to buy them in the very near future to get the Serpent Rumors first. If you aren't planning on doing that for awhile, get the Apron first.

Yea, I should have added a little more info to my first post. My original plan was to hit 90 on Nash/Tal and then move on to Lik/Gugs 90+. I guess a better question would be is it worth it fishing Lik/Gugs below 90? I do have both Penguin and Albatross rings.

If you have a fast way to repair your Lu, I would say go for the Serpent Rumors then. If you don't, go for the Apron first?

Based on what I have been told, assuming you want to skillup quickly, it isn't worth fishing Lik/Gug before 90. Nash is just too good until 90, and I'm really not sure how the 'lower than expected' skill level would affect the fishing.

This is a good point I forgot to take into account, I have to travel to Rabo every time I break it. Considering my break to success ratio on titans when I'm ferry fishing I'd probably be better off with the Apron first. Hopefully I will be well on my way back to 95k gp by the time i ding 90 skill. Not a problem. I'm not even there yet myself, but I have drilled a few high level fisherman for information the past few weeks to try to get a better feel for 'endgame fishing'. My personal issue when I actually started getting fishing GP (I'm finishing up Cooking GP atm) was whether to get the Waders or Apron first. I wasn't sure if +1 skill or a large reduction in item catches would be better overall, but after fishing for a few weeks I think the Apron would be very very useful in locations where items pop up fairly regularly just because it annoys me to waste all those casts.

I obtained my signboard yesterday, and today found enough 9-Drawer Almirah to achieve Overwhelming effect, and thus far my preliminary testing on Overwhelming Moglification: Fishing so far yields very good results.

I started with a total of 15 Minnow and fished up as many Lik as I could within those 15. I caught a total of 41 Lik. Against these, the penguin ring effect isn't really noticeable a lot. However, the +skill is as Arthars pointed out before as it improves the rate of your line breaking.

All 41 were caught with 100+8 fishing skill and Apron, Albatross & Ebisu. (3 from Armor/2 from support/3 from the assumed skill gained from overwhelming status.)

Finally, I can attest to Urat's claims about the Ebisu Rod going nuts. Mine went SSJ about three times during the two fishing sessions (Had to go to limbus between the first one.) and at one point I caught a Lik in 8 seconds after having a very good pull against it. No SS sadly, as I forgot to take one.

I'm gonna go try some Gugs now and see how well if fares against them.

When I was fishing for my Ebisu I just did a few shouts in Whitegate and found a few people with Woodworking between 70-79. Didn't have to pay them anything because they voluntarily bought the crystals to fix my poles solely for the skillups! If you find a few people with Woodworking someone is bound to be online most of the time to help you out.

I noticed the pirates have a tendency to attack one of the two ferries, so if you go 3-4 runs without pirates, stop and skip a ferry and get on the other one.

(there are 2 different ferries going back and forth, if they didnt take different paths you would actually see it at the halfway point, but they go around some island different ways or something, dunno)

Anywho, I noticed one ferry gets consistently one ferry and avoids the other.

I've convinced there are more pirate attacks if you leave the NM's alive. As far as I've seen it happens more that way. When people kill the nms there seems to be less attacks. This is just coming from personal experience over the course of a few months I spent on the boat.

Not even sure if my biggest marlin can win but i am pretty confident though, 133/668.

I am fairly sure that is a Pelican Ring fish, maybe even top 10.
My best so far is 134/640.

3 fish ranking contests ago the fish was also biggest combined length/weight bhefhel marlin on ragnarok. #1 fish was a combined 845, #20 was a combined 805 so I wouldn't be too sure about that being a pelican ring fish...
