3 fish ranking contests ago the fish was also biggest combined length/weight bhefhel marlin on ragnarok. #1 fish was a combined 845, #20 was a combined 805 so I wouldn't be too sure about that being a pelican ring fish...

I may be mistaken, but if I recall correctly winner had a 804 fish?

Well, it is better to be safe than sorry. But if these people from 4months ago continue to participate in the fishing contests, they should have enough pelican charges to get to 100. My pelican ring gotten me 45 levels ( lv31 to lv76), assuming i need another 1.5 more pelican rings to finish off to 100, its level 81 at the moment.

Looking at last month contest (Giant donko) only 29 participants so i think i won't worry too much. Furthermore, if both of you ranked behind me, i feel even more confident that i will win

And that retarded friend of mine, Gaucho, bet you both have seen him on boat lately, fished around 150+ marlins and still can't beat my 2nd best marlin lol

Jesus Christ, I hate ryugu titans. I meant to goto Mhaura today but accidently went to Selbina so I figured I'd ride the boat over and yank up some legendaries for fun. With 100 skill + gear + MH fishing skill + ebisu + PC slow down the ryugu's still whip the rod back and forth like a god damn high speed pendulum. They are personally my least favorite fish to pull up, I'll fish Liks and Gugs with a smile, but F ryugu titans.

When I was skilling on the ferries, it was always amusing to get a Titan bite. The rod would just move continuously. I tried to tire one for fun, couldn't get it past like 75% without really trying.

Finally got my Brigand's Chart last night... Going to hang on to it till I get a Pirate's Chart, I think, but when I do... what's the best way to go about it? Is there a "fool proof" way to get the Penguin's Ring?

I remember reading best way is to have a ton of marlins with both charts. Use the Brig Chart, have buddy pull Pugil aside and do it. If you didn't have time to get 4th chest or no penguin ring, go to Selbina real fast, trade till you get another, return and this time you won't reel in another fish provided your friend still holding the previous one. So you should be able to get the 4th and maybe 5th chest for a ring (rinse and repeat if you didn't get a ring).

Last two pages document my experience with spamming marlin, including info related to the Pugil Pugil gaining resistance/attacking for more, how to deal with it, etc. The best run I had was getting 5 rings from 7 charts. Started by equipping myself and 2 others with brigand's charts, as well as holding 112 marlin. Have the people who have less experience with the quest fish first, because all you really want them to do is to fish up the mob.

When you go back to turn in more fish, if you get a PIRATE'S chart, just keep trading until you get a BRIGAND'S. It may seem wasteful, but it really improves your odds of getting a ring by getting another go at the brigand's quest while the mob is being held.

Edit: The two others who held charts had high-level fishing (one was 70ish, the other 100). Not sure how successful someone would be at lower levels (i.e. their ability to drain fish stamina quickly enough).

Still no clue how it works, maybe its fishing stamina related? IE at certain ponts, 1/4, 1/2, 3/4, it turns on for a bit?

My guess would be possibly a very small percent chance of triggering it each time you cast. Maybe it's even the same small percent chance as turning in a fish and getting an Ebisu item...

Anyone ever fished Abaia before? I was curious to see their bite rate and went out there with about 200 pieces of sliced carp. Didn't catch a single one. Any ideas? (Yes, I was in the past)
