I'd suggest experimenting with other baits, being a large freshwater fish I'd try minnow, insect paste, and maybe a lizard lure if you can hunt one down...

Also try Maiden's spring, might yeild better results

Lol I have about 4 Lizard Lures. Apparently when i drink I decide to try and make a few. No one ever buys them. Don't even know how much they are worth.

So decided to do my first Fishing Rank contest this week and it is Titanictus, curious what is a good weight/size to shoot for if I want to get top 20 for ring?

Maiden's spring eh? Otherwiki seemed to indicate lake and slice of carp was the best, but clearly that was not the case. I'll give it a shot with some minnows later (there are other fish in the lake that bite on those so I dunno if the bite rate on abaia would be worth it there). Thanks.

I started with a total of 15 Minnow and fished up as many Lik as I could within those 15. I caught a total of 41 Lik. Against these, the penguin ring effect isn't really noticeable a lot. However, the +skill is as Arthars pointed out before as it improves the rate of your line breaking.

All 41 were caught with 100+8 fishing skill and Apron, Albatross & Ebisu. (3 from Armor/2 from support/3 from the assumed skill gained from overwhelming status.)

Finally, I can attest to Urat's claims about the Ebisu Rod going nuts. Mine went SSJ about three times during the two fishing sessions (Had to go to limbus between the first one.) and at one point I caught a Lik in 8 seconds after having a very good pull against it. No SS sadly, as I forgot to take one.

I'm gonna go try some Gugs now and see how well if fares against them.
This post is very incouraging, ty! Bolded the part that raises my question:

Fisherman's Apron or Tunica, which do ppl prefer?

Myself I use the GP apron for everything, but on Lik/Gugrusaurus I use the +1 skill tunica. If ppl like the +skill from furnishings, do they also get the 300gil support? Then use apron why? Ya, I myself don't like to take it off at all, with all the GP it cost, but wouldn't the skill stacked with 2 furnishings, support, +5 skill in armor be better?

btw, this is with Ebisu of course

To answer your questions, I start off with the Advanced support but I don't bother going back for it after it wears off unless I run out of lures. And I use the Apron mostly due to not having enough inventory space to hold the tunica. D:

As for Apron v Tunica, I'm not sure. It's hard to determine if the Apron is actually doing anything sometimes. >.> And there have also been runs with even all this +skill that Lik/Gugu will still break my line 3-4 times in a row.

apron works well when u fish GP items

but for liks and gugs, where there are not much item in the area, the 1 skill from tunica helps in reeling in

i just reported a friend for botting(i think)

he wasnt replying to my tells like he always do, and he didnt reply me when he uses an albatross ring as well, so on a neutral side, i had the responsibility to report

he dissappear for a while before appearing again and warped, this time he replied me which made me think he was jailed by GM for a while. I may be wrong tho

however be it he botted or not, i dont hate him. hes a cool dude and a good friend with my cousin as well in game but i just hope people fish fairly and earn gil the way the other honest fisherman did

sorry if i accuse you wrongly

i will report anyone, even my irl friend, he ignored my tells before and i GMed him as well lol but he wasnt botting thank god

I think Arthars did the right thing~ I don't see why people should ignore a person botting just because they are friends when somebody else is just going to report them eventually anyway x:

Sounds like a responsible thing to do, but harsh friend lol.

Anyway, got my financial nonsense situated (on top of the Secure 3-D nonsense SE pulled ), so I can continue fishing. Nebimonite market is very, very random on Phoenix, tons of people constantly undercut even when 9k+ is more than acceptable from buyers. Currently it's sitting at 10k a stack, but I went ahead and started at Nashmau earlier than that guide said. Istiridye bite rate seems better than Nebimonites, easier to pull in (slightly), and as long as I pay attention to how the rod and stamina depletion is, I don't have to worry about losing my Robber Rig. Not so sure about whether I'm ready to stick in Nashmau for the remainder of my fishing career, but that's one of the allures of fishing for me: being able to go multiple places to fish, places I might have otherwise overlooked in this game. Also started cooking as a good alternating hobby when I get a little bored of fishing. :D

This is one reason I stopped neb's as soon as possible and went to nashmau.. The market on cerberus is bad like this too.. the price would range from 5k upto 15k... undercutters would drop the price to half sometimes in the space of a day..

Cheating is wrong when your cheating creates an nonlevel playing field, like if he was AHing the fish and ruining your market, or if an athlete uses steroids.

On the other hand, if he was just NPCing the fish and he's not an RMT, it has nothing to do with you. Let him risk his account. If you call a GM on someone who's botting simply because the ToS says not to bot, you're being a self-righteous and narrowminded douchebag, end of story.
