I don't really mind tricolored carp, but ya greedie's yesterday were the first day in at least a month that I didn't go out and fish at least some GPs. Gave me a chance to get started on the moogle add on at least lol.

Botting HNMs creates an uneven playing field (without getting into more assumptions about competition botting as well, etc., etc.), so according to you, that's wrong. Not trying to start an argument, genuinely confused by your statement.
Right, botting HNMs does create an uneven playing field. That's not fair. Botting fish to AH them gives you an unfair advantage, as you will be effortlessly flooding the market while legit fishers will struggle. NPCing botted fish, however, doesn't hurt anybody.

    As for this:

I'm not going to go all white knight, but someone marching in here and telling me that botting isn't cheating can kiss my ass. That's a total crock.
It's cheating, sure, but botting fish to NPC is harmless. If you think that you can "fish out" an area then lol.

By mass npcing fish and creating yourself a stockpile of gil effortlessly aren't you therefore creating yourself an advantage when it comes to being able to afford items off the AH?

I really wanted to stay out of this stupid ass argument but god, to think npcing botted fish doesn't hurt (or influence is a better word) anybody is a croc. Creating gil in mass quantities from npc's can definitely influence the market, wasn't this one of the primary reasons for the xmas inflation? A bunch of created gil through NPC > sold for cheap > people willing to pay ridiculous prices for items > those who didn't buy gil suffered.

I'm not one to feel good about insulting people or calling people names on the internet, but are you really so ignorant that you believe botting>npcing fish to create gil without any effort can have absolutely no influence or effect on other players? If need be I can hypothesize a few scenarios where your botting clearly puts you at an advantage. If you bot whatever, but can't you at least admit it gives you an unfair advantage over others? I use windower and I use windower plug ins, therefore I have an unfair advantage over console players and it very well may influence my ability to anticipate pops, claim, survive solos, etc.

I can fish to fatigue using a bot, or by doing it manually. Either way the same amount of gil is being introduced into the system. The only difference is whether i get my homework done.

Yeah, i guess we're just gonna disagree. That's cool

he was selling botted liks 8k to people while its stable 10k in ifrit

prolly because all the fishes are botted and effortless so he doesnt really feel the real pain fishing liks

    is this bad?

    yes very
anyway this is a fishing thread. if your trying to argue/defend that effortless botting fishes for gil(NPC or AH) is ok VS hardworking fisherman's effort for gil, your obviously going no where

its almost like saying botting HNM is fine while obviously its not

I guess I will stay away from using the pelican on the ferry, though. Maybe I should prioritize getting my rings?
I started fishing for mercanbaligi and ahtapot at around level 50, sometimes i timed out on them so having albatross definately helps lol. Because ahtapot is a slow depleting fish, i suggest lagging yourself to make it goes a bit faster.

For me,i usually dual box and lower my fps while in the 50s fishing level. And yeah, use pelican only on land not on boat. I have experienced a few pelican charges with 0 skill up and the worst and most frustrating experience is 25 "didn't catch anything" and 4 fishes in 20mins. But i have gotten a .2 from that so not so bad i guess. Indeed frustrating so most of the time i just spam on a friend in /tell.

Edit: No i am not close to fatigue capped, only caught around 80~ that time.

If you don't bot, are you really going to waste hours upon hours fishing to fatigue every single day? I doubt it..

And when you cap that area out, and move on to AHable fish, are you really going to stop botting? Yeah, I doubt it.

If I'm completely off on what bots can do let me know. But I really thought you can just afk and bot fish while at work. Maybe goto Talacca and just fish up ! bites for mercs + dils then npc them all for 150k?

Here are 2 simple scenario where you botting benefits you and creates an unfair scenario.

Scenario 1 - Opportunity Cost = You spend 0 actual play time earning gil
You and an LSmate are both after something in sky, let's for the hell of it just say A hands. Your LS bids on drops, so A hands starts at 25 points, and the highest bidder wins. Player A (you) and Player B both have 3 hours of play time per day. You bot while you're at work, you come home and npc all the fish, you make 150k per day solely from botting while you're at work. Now when you come home you can dedicate 3 hours to farming sky points. Player B on the other hand has to spend 2 of his 3 hours of play time fishing in order to earn that gil. He spends his 1 extra non-fishing hour farming sky. When it comes down to popping Genbu and bidding against each other he's spent 14 of his 21 hours fishing to make gil, meanwhile you've spent 0 of your 21 playtime hours earning gil and all 21 earning sky points. You completely massacre him because you have not had to spend any time farming your own gil while you were home, it was all done while you were working. You win the bid and get the drop. Advantage you

    Scenario 2 - Bribing
This scenario is simple, he with the most gil can usually bribe another player or group. You bot while you're at work and once again come home and npc 150k worth of mercs/dils. This nets you approximately 1m per week, not ground breaking of course, but that's 50 mil per year. Let's say you and player B Nyzul every night after Askar body, you keep seeing goliard and denali. Finally, after 3 weeks you finally see an Askar drop. You both spend all your 3 hours of play time each night doing nyzul runs but in the meantime you've earned 3mil gil while botting at work. You offer to pay your friends 3m if he passes, he doesn't really want to pass, but man 3m is a lot of gil because he doesn't have the time to farm since he spends it all doing nyzul with you. You pay him gil you earned with 0 effort and you also get the piece of armor you both wanted. Advantage you

In general more playtime + more gil = more success in ffxi. By botting while you're at work and using your play time while you're at home for other activities you have a clear advantage over others who need to spend their at home time doing whatever activity they do to earn the same amount of gil.

So those fishbots in Rabao NPCing rusties didn't hurt anyone or the economy? Dozens of low-profile RMT fishers churning out millions of gil daily is harmless? Just get the fuck out.

It's not a huge difference, but it has been enough of one where I have noticed it several times and it has made me wonder about it. Might be some way to keep fishing from pumping too many items into the economy at once in too short a period of time, who knows. Maybe it's just all the 'release' text they spam has made me go crazy.
I have always wondered about 'fishing out' areas too. Used to notice all the time when I was working on Lu at Knightwell I would got 1-2 hours constantly catching carp and so was everyone around me, then all of a sudden no one was catching anything. Probably is just a placebo effect but I'm a believer after my months of carp there.

I was wondering...why does the guild ask for so many newts? What on earth are they doing with the hundreds upon hundreds fishermen have already given them? Do they just have a huge pile of rotting newt behind the guild counter?

So I was attempting to fish up some mantas to try and get an angel skin for fun with a friend the other day and followed all the different advice I could find on Wiki and other sources and was unable to fish in the manta without running out of time reeling it in. I was wondering what I needed to actually pull it in. Does the rod I use change things? The fact that I have 3 skill in Fishing? Any advice would be nice.

Does anyone have realistic proof that areas can or can't be fished out? There seems to be conflicting reports on this now, and it makes me wonder if people are quick to dismiss it because they haven't experienced it? It could also just very well be a coincidence with everyone getting 'catch nothing' messages at the same time though.

I remember experiencing this years ago at the Knight's Well, and recently in Nash (though Nash seems kinda weird in general in that respect) and recently fishing the fish ranking fish. The bite rate doesn't drop to nothing, but it just gets extremely shitty for seemingly everyone attempting that sort of fish. I have nothing concrete to really support this besides hours upon hours of of bored observations actually sitting and fishing.

It's happened multiple times on my way to lushang this past month, always happening when there is 4+ fishermen there (Knight's in West Ronfaure). Every single time. I patrol the area and nobody is catching them. People start to leave and people start to consistently catch them.
