Heh, I took this picture a long time ago, just found it again. Was trying for brigand's charts, and didn't have any plans to use the pirate's charts. Also was doing it to see if it improved my chances of brigand's by having no other chart.

ok currently 80k gp. no signboard, no map, no big one, no waders, but have ebisu.

so currently what I have is 100+4. How big of a difference will i notice when i get the last +4 with overwhelming water :D


and is there anything i can test to get actual number evidence of anything? like some lu vs ebisu test. that isn't just anecdotal

I have access to both rods, but I don't know how to devise a test for anything. What would be some interesting facts to know.

Alright, the other voodoo post has angered me into bringing this up since I've been following blindly with absolutely no proof and it's annoying inventory wise lol. The reason I've followed blindly up to this point is because urat's post are generally helpful although often a bit "extreme" and I wanted them to be true. However, in the voodoo thread he said his bite rate goes way up when wearing gear with water elemental strength. At this point it's gone too far and needs to be addressed so it can be proven or disproven.

Urat has, within the thread posed some pretty ground breaking theories with nothing more than his word to back them up. The reasons these theories "stuck" are because we want them to. They are as follows:

1.) Moghancement: Fishing Skill - Skill can be tiered to be +1, +2, +3 depending on your elemental water strength in your MH. Overwhelming = 3. While I'm quite aware that fishing does not follow standard crafting patterns I see absolutely no proof of this of why this is true, and it seems even further outlandish since it breaks the standard pattern of moghancement: craft name. It doesn't matter if you have overwhelming earth in your MH for clothcraft, those cursed mitts are still T0 since you're only gaining +1 from it. Don't get me wrong, I'm sitting with 20something water barrels in my MH, but why am I doing this with absolutely no proof other than his word?

2.) Moglification: Fishing - Depletion Rate can be tiered 1, 2, 3 based on your elemental water strength in your MH. Put more simply, with overwhelming water energy your moglification "penguin's ring" effect will be 3x as strong as without extra water energy. Up to this point I've wanted this to be true so damn badly I've ignored 2-3 people posting throughout this thread who said they did not notice a difference between adding signboard and adding overwhelming water with signboard. Worst part is, we don't even have Urat's word on this "fact," he is basing it on something his friend told him.

3.) In the voodoo crafting thread Urat recently posted:

My bite rate, or lack of no bites, doubled.

Before this catches on with nothing more than Urat's word as #1 and #2 did, I decided to bring it all to the forefront in one post.

Does anyone have a way we can actually test #1 or #2? I am about 25k away from signboard myself. As for #3, I'd love to see some data on this, preferably from multiple people since it'd be quite easy to test. An lsmate of mine is working on a fish parser, so if it ever gets done it may be able to help our research.

I might've accepted the Water Resists theory, though. Just Fishing may be different, but it's only different in the aspect that you can't fish up an HQ fish. They just don't exist. The signboard and moghancement should most definitely work the same as the regular crafts, no matter how much energy you have exuding from your MH, it's still only +1.

Whether it makes sense or not, it's sadly become generally accepted within this thread. It really doesn't take much for people to follow something they *want* to be true.

As per the other ones, with 120 plus water resist I did notice my bite rate skyrocket.

BUT in retrospect guys, I was fishing trumpet shells when I tested this. And it could have been campaign battle vs no campaign battle that really fucked up my numbers. The bite rate does change with the campaign battles.

I still have a large portion of that gear from before, so I think I'll toss it on while I fish dil tonight and compare it to previous samples and lay this one down for sure.

As for the moglification, that one was from me standing beside me friend and watching, and as I've recently found out, I wasnt the only one bot fishing there (if your reading this vint no I'm not talking about you, this is someone else =P)

I know there are bots out there that can instantly kill a fish, so he may have been stating that simply to provide explanation as to why he was fishing up liks so easily.

This was also pre ebisu update when you pretty much NEEDED the rings to catch liks. Period. I simply accepted it as fact, cause, well how else could he be dropping them so fast?

I'd compare how fast he was dropping them to ebisu rage mode today, but every single time. Dunno if this was him botting or if moglification is really this strong.

Thats basically what my friend was telling me, and I assumed the lv 100 fisher dropping liks like moat carp was true cause I was seeing it right in front of my eyes.

Along the lines of "Well if you increase the strength of the moghancement/moglification you get more skill and the penguin ring effect increases. Thats why if I use penguin ring and capped moglification I can kill these liks so fast" Proceeeds to drop a like in 3 seconds.

/shrug, now a few months later he tells me he was botting too, and looking back and having heard of these bots that can instantly kill a fish, maybe he wasnt telling the truth.

If it turns out it wasnt true, and my findings on water resist, I'll definitly do the work for the next fishing topic like you guys have nominated me to do =P

Mayhaps we should list everything we want in it so I dont miss anything, (I'm probably gonna do it anyways)

btw I was fishing liks pre-update with only albatross quite easily. I imagine they'd go down fast as hell with penguins too.

Tomorrow I'll take out my 9-drawer Almirahs and see if Gug's seem any different than they have so far. I have zero experience fishing them pre-overwhelming status, so I'm fairly sure it will be noticeable.
