Wth are you sure some of the mercs on juice are not actually dils? When I was skiliing mercs were a walk in the park but dils were annoying as he'll. They're obviously both (!)

From what I've noticed the Dil seem to just take a while to deplete, they are kinda NQ in the movement department. Mercanbaligi however move so damn much. That triple movement gets me almost everytime. I suppose I cant be too positive what they are since I'm not landing them.

I headed back to Nashmau and I seem to be able to bring these ones in a tad easier.

in fact i'm quite sure of it, yes i remember dil and ahtapot being ok, dil being very difficult at 30, but mercs sometimes giving me shit in the mid/high 40s. Which dil and ahtapot by then were not difficult, just took a while.

I mean they still went nuts sometimes at 60+ but I didn't have any problems reeling them in, it just took longer.

same i'm 61 fishing and at times merc's can be on steroids. Even dil's are easy now and ahtapot's are a joke.

What people are questioning is whether overwhelming water energy in your mh gives additional skill or if it's still just +1 like the normal crafts.

No, normal craft goes 100 + 3(adv support) +1 (gloves/weapon) +1 (body) +1 (furniture/signboard)

Afaik in normal crafting the only thing overwhelming element does is help reduce item loss in breaks. Other than cooking you can not break 106 with items/support.

No, the +1 is just the normal +1 you get from moghancement/moglification.

I think? Theres also speculation ebisu gives like +2 bajillion fishing skill as fishers that often get lack of skill message on fish like liks and gugras never get it on ebisu.

I noticed that myself, 1/5 liks/gugras would give me a "you lost fish due to lack of skill" but since swapping to ebisu i've never gotten that message since

I havn't had the message post ebisu buff, but about 3-4 months ago I would get it at least once a day when fishing gugs for a friend. Even at 0% HP

Hmmm. I'm not too sure myself. I lent my friend a Robber Rig and he lost it pretty quickly while fishing Istiridye in Nashmau with a Halcyon rod. He bought another and hasn't lost it yet, as far as I know. I'm pretty certain they can't break the rod itself, only steal the rig.

With a Halcyon vs Istiridye I'm really not sure. I don't know if Istiridye reliably bite crayfish balls. The gil used for crayfish balls may add up to more gil than a Robber Rig if you fish there until 53.

Yesterday I fished up 5 stacks of Trumpet shells, fuck are they annoying. I'd literally go 30min without a bite sometimes...

I started skilling on mercs and ahtapots last night, myself (at the time, 51 skill + big one and gear) and I can attest that half the mercs I hooked were on steroids and I couldn't reel them in; I was in Nash, so I know they weren't Dil or anything. Ahtapots pose no problem whatsoever, though.
