I don't think you can rely on Coral Fragments to be a steady income of Gil.
If so, fishing is broken since Matsya 25k npc vs constant reels of fragments.....
Nowai xD

LOL nope. I'm sitting here at 31.2. I caught another 48 fish last night before I needed to head to bed and got a .1 . . . That's been my luck lately. Although I am fishing solely for profit skillups just make it better. Also has it been proven that you get better skillups outside of cities, or was that just an old myth? I used to hear that back in the day.
ok, I still have one last place to check, and thats the inner lake of den of rancor, still trying to get m,y damn paintbrush of souls, damn item wont drop to let me in >.o
As for matsyas, its already been proven even at 25K each they aren't good for fishing, it takes a fisher average 1 stack to catch a matsya, using dwarf pugils that takes roughly 50 cave cherax, so you lose 40K possible gil npcing the cherax to catch one matsya worth 25K. And thats including the money you get back from zaldon.
However, SE has hinted at in the questions that you'll be able to zaldon matsya later, and if so I'm guessing the reward will be worth a pretty penny.
...
Speaking of which has anyone attempted zaldoning matsya since ebisu update? I still have yet to land a bugger, stream of bad luck, used up a whole stack of baits. Those damn calamaries....
Fuck fishing next to VT mobs. Though it's fun to see how long you can go without aggro.
Do you or do you not have to have completed the Lu Shang quest to do the Ebisu quest?
Ya bud, just remember atleast you're making money while skilling. After I dinged fishing to 100 I decided to do some subs to 60 for fun and it disgusted me how much gil I wasted doing it. Your mention of skills within a city being lower I'm guessing it is an old myth, you're just having shitty luck. While I was skilling I kept track of fish per level until I got a Pelican's ring at 55ish and it was shocking how the fish per level ranged from 60ish to 300ish.
I think the old assumption that skill rates used to be lower in cities was because the bite rates were previously so bad there. I have been fishing in Nash for awhile now, and the skillup streaks seem to come and go. I think on average I seem to get about a level per day, fishing at least halfway to cap.
Finally managed to land a second matsya today, took 8 pugils to do it, but I did it.
Had double thunder weather on watersday, if anyone cares =P
Off to zaldon, see if SE ninja added it to his list when they did ebisu update~
Edit: Nope still wont take it, this time I'll keep this fish and save it for next updates lol.
lol yeah. I look at fishing as pure income, and if i get skillups along the way its cool too. I actually have a steady buyer for 7k a stack on Istiridye so doesn't bother me. I also would have had a pelican ring but my "friend" jacked my account and sold it ( i just got it back from SE about 10 days ago). But anyways I placed #4 in the contest but was unable to get my ring because the new contest had started.
Just got Serpent Rumors last night and thought I would try some Gugs. 90 skill +4 +3 support, penguin and albatross. In about an hour I had 10 bites, timed out on 4, 2 line breaks, 2 catches and 2 rod breaks. I was hoping to catch all my fish for ebisu but not having WW leveled made this quite a pain having to run to Rabo when the rod snapped. I hope Liks are a little easier. Also thought I would try to land a Gug with no ring support, not even close lol best i could do was down to 75%. Guess I'll keep fishing the Cove until 96 and use sushi profits to just buy Gugs![]()
Do fish you release count towards fatigue? Like, is it catches, or bites that affects it?
anything you reel in, even if released from full inventory, counts towards fatigue
I believe there was an update note that mentioned things you release (whether items or fish) count towards fatigue, but only slightly.
You should try laging your pc it works wonder even @ lv 90. I cannot catch gugus with both ring, support, at level 100! very easy if i lag pc though. lv 80 woodworking isn't very hard to get tbh ( just 20 level above 60... and wood is freaking cheap, just repair mithran rods lol) and you can always delevel it after you get ebisu.
Hit 91 yesterday. Gotta love those .3's on CC.
Decided to skip Apron and directly go for the Signboard first. (75k/200k) atm.
That was gonna be my question, actually, for GP items...
Anyone have a standard progression on what to buy? I'm just getting into it at around skill level 60, so yeah, I suck.
I was thinking Apron > SSR > Waders > Fishing Hole-Map > Signboard > everything else.
