I was actually thinking about this the other day, being about 20K away from being entirely done with Cooking, and given Urat's Apron testing I thought the following would be optimal for me...

Waders > SSR (depending on Ebisu progress) > Signboard > Apron > Fishing Hole Map (Assuming you don't buy 'The Big One' once you obtain your signboard) > Everything Else.

I did Waders > Apron > Switch to Cooking > Raw Fish Handling > Switch to Fishing > Rumors (@65k right now) > back to cooking > Apron > Hat > back to fishing > Signboard > anything random from the two guilds

hi, fishing 98.7 so far, soon to hit 99, i'd like to know which lvl 100 fish has a decent bit rate and can be reeled up with albatross and pelican '-'

any advice ? '-'

Cave Cherax in quicksand caves with meatballs. Shouldnt even need albatross unless your on high end pc and not lagging it.(I would assume,I fish on ps2)

I'm doing cherax right now at 86, and they are easy. Not using rings, but do have ebisu. Bite rate is kinda bleh, think I should stay in the cove until 90 instead?

Bite rate varies on them just like all fish. Yes, i would at least get 90-93ish before doing them. Reason I like that spot is cause you only hook cherax (no mobs ) with the occasional rare item. They also can give .3 skillups. Oh and I wanted bait for matsya, that is if i ever get opal silk ( 0/880 currently with about 700+ of them fished by me on ps2 with lu using penguin and albatross.....)

I would stay in nashmau until 99, a bit boring but such a great place for skill up.

Are the scorpion bite rate much better than cherax? Just went 20 minutes without a bite from these bastard cherax, was a bit depressing lol. Would lik/gug be an option at 90? A problem that comes to mind for me is the market is already flooded and being undercut constantly on the server, don't know if I'd be able to move mine.

I would do pterygotus (sp) in nash until 95 with lug worm. As for lik bite rate can also be horrible at times. Also need to take into consideration if you need penguin to go with albatross which can be a pain to get sometimes but short answer is yes, you will skill on lik at 90. In my experience on fishing on ps2 its pointless to fish lik without penguin. I consider myself very good at the fishing minigame and still only get 1/10 to 0% with only albatross. This is why i consider slowing your pc too much ( lower fps than ps2 ) to be a form of cheating. I know im off topc but want my views on this to be known. I asked a GM about it and he even said its against the ToS.

The dickhead in me is about to come out because I generally love this thread because it's filled with helpful tips. But personally I don't care about your view on this, nor does it need to be known to anyone but yourself. If you want to botch up a perfectly good thread with a completely worthless argument take it elsewhere.

If you want to avoid breaking the ToS run 3ds max in the background double rendering or something, or better yet use the POL windowed mode (it actually works pretty well for fishing)

So far my overall results for naked vs apron vs water resist have been interesting.

Normal fishing is showing me capping at about a 2:1 ratio of fish vs items, whereas the apron drops the item bites to borderline nothing (about 1:0.1) but replaces them simply with a "you didn't catch anything"

Water resist is actually giving me some VERY interesting results. It seems to have added an almost reverse apron effect, boosting my item bite rates and replacing the "you didn't catch anything"s with items.

It wasn't nearly as dramatic in my first shot in vunkerl awhile ago, so I think I'm gonna chalk that up to coincidence of me tossing the gear on as a campaign battle ended, which my parses are showing seems to increase no bites by about 20%.

Overall, apron is a lot more situational then we previously thought. It would be very useful for things like matsya and gugrasaures, in which your precious baits on the boat and out in the middle of nowhere are consumed by annoying little itemtype fish like calamary and jellyfish.

In my opinion, if you have ebisu, waders are superior to apron in the +1 skill should lower your line snap rates for liks and gugras, if your fishing those.

Also, I can confirm apron does consider monsters as "items" in its effect.

@Urat thanks for the update. I've been slowly compiling the snap/reel in rate of Gugs because I always "felt" like they broke more than Liks. With that being said I started out with 3 reel ins and 8 breaks, but since then the results are more of what I guess we expected. Here's the data so far. This is with 100 + Ebisu + moglification + gear/apron + paid support
